"Alley Home Services is not really in the business of tree removal in that they sub this out. So, it might be a little higher in price than directly hiring a tree removal service. On the other hand, they preformed just as they said they would. This was a somewhat difficult job, but went off without a hitch. I would hire them again, and will probably use them for some updates in the house. Well done."

The vast majority of hinges are symmetrical, and either side of the hinge can go on the door or the frame. You have several options when choosing the best lumber for your door jamb. Pine is the most common material due to its resistance to swelling. Fir is strong and durable. You could also go with birch or alder. Any wood with a tight grain will work for this project.

You will need to cut or break a boomstick so it is wider than the door and long enough to anchor outside the door frame. Extend the broomstick horizontally under the doorknob, ensuring it's snug. Now using long screws and a drill, anchor the broomstick to the wall outside the door frame. Remember that you won't be able to open the door afterward. Do not proceed with this hack if your home has no alternative exit.
