Always ensure the heater is off and cooled before you begin this project. Heat-resistant paint isn’t necessary unless your heater is heating above 200 degrees Fahrenheit.

Acrylic latex paint is the best exterior paint for vinyl siding. It adheres well to the vinyl surface, reducing the likelihood that the paint will peel or flake.

Exterior paints contain more volatile organic compounds, or VOCs, making them dangerous when used indoors. While you may notice the smell lessening more quickly, you should be wary of paint fumes inside for 48 to 72 hours after it dries.

While it may surprise you, the best time to paint the interior of your home is not during the warm open-window months, but rather during the late fall or even winter. This is because the cooler months offer ideal humidity conditions for painting. Lower humidity and cooler temperatures means faster drying time and better paint adhesion. 

You can use either paint thinner or mineral spirits to clean paint brushes, but both have distinct advantages. Paint thinners are better solvents, making them a good option if you need to clean your brushes quickly or if you are dealing with dried paint, which mineral spirits can’t remove. On the other hand, mineral spirits have less toxicity, less odor, and lower volatility. It is safer to use indoors and doesn’t evaporate as quickly if you need to leave the brushes to soak.
