"Factory direct installed new windows and siding on my home in Feb of 2015. They were the most competitive and fair in pricing of all the solicited bids, and answered the questions I had in a prompt and courteous fashion. The installation itself was preformed on time and professional in scope. They did an excellent job. They thoroughly cleaned up when completed. I am very happy with the results and would highly recommend them."

Hi, I am Shane Rasmussen owner of Cement Siding Installation. I have been Installing fiber cement siding in Arkansas for 10 yrs. now. I have recently opened this business on my own. Mainly to save you the customer money. We do remodeling and new construction. We also do commercial or residential projects. We can install any and virtually every version of the cement siding. From just soffitt and fascia on brick homes, To complete wall coverage with either, lap, vertical, board and batten, or shingle (looks like shake). On the remodeling side we will remove old siding, inspect walls\nfor water and bug damage. Then repair and/or insulate if necessary, OSB wall, and wrap area with vapor barrier. We also do dormers, gables and chimneys. No proect is too big or small. The other nice thing about dealig wth this small new version of us is that I have no sales people. When you call I will always be the person you deal with and I am on jobsite 99% of the time.

Siding questions, answered by experts

The best types of siding to withstand hail are fiber cement siding and engineered wood siding. Fiber cement siding is known for impact resistance, while some brands of engineered wood siding can withstand hail as big as 1 and 3/4 inches with no marks. Vinyl and aluminum siding are the most susceptible to hail.

Yes, you can install siding over stucco, but it's crucial to ensure the stucco is in good condition first. Before proceeding, inspect the stucco for any signs of damage, leaks, or mold growth. If you discover water damage, mold, or have ongoing leak issues, it's recommended to remove the stucco completely. This step prevents future problems like mold and pest infestations and allows a professional to repair or replace any damaged sheathing underneath. If the stucco is sound, the installation process involves attaching furring strips to the wall's framing directly through the stucco. The new siding is then installed onto these furring strips. A professional may also need to adjust window and door openings to prevent them from being recessed behind the new siding, which can cause aesthetic issues and create potential leak points.

Yes, clapboard siding generally costs more compared to vinyl. The average cost for vinyl siding is between $2 and $7 per square foot. Meanwhile, clapboard siding costs $4 to $20 per square foot.

You have several options you can choose from for climbing plants without damaging your siding. Climbing hydrangea and Carolina jessamine are two options, and jasmine, honeysuckle, and sweet pea are a few others. Look for these climbing plants to add lovely curb appeal and are less likely to cause damage to your siding.

Traditional clapboard siding, particularly with panels made from wood, is not a significant insulator on its own. However, you can keep your home cooler in summer and warmer with "insulated clapboard siding," which is a type of vinyl clapboard siding with a built-in foam insulation. Consult a local siding contractor to determine whether insulated siding is right for your home.
