Yes, scorpions can enter a home through AC vents, especially if the system is not well-sealed. As excellent climbers, they can scale a home's exterior and squeeze through gaps as small as 1/16 of an inch. Scorpions are often attracted to the moisture around air conditioning ducts or seek cooler areas during hot weather, using vents as a pathway inside. Most HVAC companies recommend against setting your AC below 70 as it could freeze up the system and cause more problems. Regardless of how hot it is outside, there is generally a 20 degree difference between the outside and inside temperatures, so even if it’s 100 degrees outside, your AC will likely not be able to cool your home to 70 degrees.

At a minimum, an HVAC system should be serviced once per year. When first installed, flex ducts shouldn’t cause airflow problems in your home. However, because flex ducts aren’t the sturdiest and require extra support, they lose their durability over time and begin to sag, which can inhibit airflow down the road. Also, if your flex ducts aren’t tight enough, your HVAC could work twice as hard for the same air pressure. If you’re worried about the airflow in your home, a rigid duct may be your best bet.
