"Called to have my septic pumped. First impression was good but I feel I was mislead on the cost. Quoted $450 for septic to be pumped. Told I would be informed of any additional cost before work was done. When he uncovered the septic, I was told the lid was broken and the septic would need to be replaced. We agreed to $6000 with risers and what I thought was septic pumped?the original job he was called to do. I was informed I had to pay 1/2 today and other half when job completed. Then I was asked if i was going to pay the company that was pumping the tank. What? I called him to pump it. Makes me question if he broke my lid so he could put a new septic in. Again I thought why would he ask that when that was what I called him to do. That afternoon I was called and told it would be another $500 for risers. When job was done he tells me my remaining balance is $3950?.not what we initially discussed for the $6000 after paying 1/2 at $3000. Why was I asked to pay another company $450? "

"I paid Sun Pools to put in a new liner and do some concrete work around my pool. A couple hours after completion I had to call Tim and let him know the liner had popped out. They came back to fix it and the liner kept popping out. It eventually tore. After the liner tore Mr. Tim Hughes said they would repair the liner (this is before we even filled up the pool or swam with the new liner). I said I would not take a torn pool liner for a pool that has not even been swan in yet. So he agreed to order a new one. While waiting for the new liner the concrete they put in completely collapsed. I called Mr. Tim Hughes and let him know the concrete collapsed and we had a safety hazard in our yard. He came out and roped off the collapsed area. He told me they would repair the concert but had to wait until there was a few dry days in a row to make sure the concrete would dry out. So, after the first collapse he eventually came to put in more concrete and a new pool wall. One day when it was raining (even though he said it could not be raining when the put in the concrete ) they came and put in new concrete and a new pool wall. They finished around 1 PM and I got home around 5 that afternoon. As soon as I get home that day the pool is already starting to collapse. I have cameras at my house and I look them over, before Mr. Tim Hughes even left the concrete was already separating and I have him on camera saying, "Oh well there is nothing we can do." He did not call me or let me know anything, I had to find out when I got home and call him."

Well and pump services FAQs

Estimating what size well pump you need is challenging and often inaccurate, but a general rule of thumb is to take the number of fixtures—including water-consuming appliances—in your home and aim for that number in gallons per minute. That calculation method would allow for every fixture in your home to use about one gallon of water per minute. However, it’s best to leave the pump size determination to a professional technician, as they can ensure your pump is providing your home with sufficient water, especially during peak usage hours.

Some states and municipalities restrict well pump repair and replacement to licensed plumbers and technicians, while others don’t have requirements. However, it’s always a good idea to hire a certified plumber to repair or replace well pumps and water pumps. Certified professionals are far more likely to get the job done correctly and prevent future issues, which is especially important for ensuring access to clean water for your home.

It’s possible to fix a broken well pump yourself, but we don’t recommend it. Well pumps are hard to reach and service without the proper equipment, and even if you can reach the pump, it involves working in close proximity to water and electricity, which can be extremely dangerous. Any mistakes made during the repair process could contaminate your water supply or put you and your home at risk. Additionally, some states require that a licensed plumber carry out well pump repair. It’s worth it to hire a professional water pump repair service.

The average cost to repair a well pump is $950, with most well pump repairs ranging between $100 and $2,900. A few factors influence your total repair cost, including the component of your well that needs repair or replacement, the extent of the damage, the accessibility of the pump, and the age and size of your well pump. It might be more cost-effective to replace your well pump if it’s old or has multiple broken components, as the average cost to replace a well pump is $1,800.

Most professional well and water pump technicians will take between two and four hours to replace an above-ground well pump, while a submersible well pump typically takes four to five hours to access and replace. You can also ask your well pump replacement technician how long they expect the process to take, as some jobs take just an hour or two. Keep in mind that you’ll be without access to water during the replacement process, so plan ahead by showering early and stocking up on bottled water for drinking and cooking.
