"Exceptional service! I requested the services for my senior parents, and they told me that they were very pleased with the process pre-, during, and post- repair of their foundation. They mentioned how punctual the team was and the fact that they could feel the difference in the flooring after the foundation repairs were complete. I am very appreciative that they went out to a very rural area of Alabama. I highly recommend APS!"

"It turned out well. I used it shortly after I purchased the deal. There were additional charges beyond the big deal amount as I had them repair something that they found while doing it. They did everything as advertised and then in addition to that, they also fixed some molding around the chimney that had become cracked and weathered. I had not used them before. There have been no issues since the service was provided."

"Other than that, I was happy with them. American Home Shield recommended Destiny Air of Alvin, TX. I was happy with them until now. In July, the 10 month old air conditioner, dehumidifier did not work. Someone came out on July 6th and supposedly fixed it. I was gone until coming home the end of July and the humidity upstairs was the same. Someone came out on August 8th and repaired it as of today, it is drier upstairs. In the meanwhile, black mold came through the air ducts. Someone is supposed to come out on August 29th in the morning to take care of this. Today is the 25th, I have been calling them up to seven times a day with no response. The downstairs AC is 3 years old. Coming home on the 19th after a lovely trip- that AC did not work. It took 6 days for a service man to come out. He was 2 hours late, discovered something had to be replaced and it had to be ordered. It should take 2-3 days. Today, is 6 days later and nobody has called me back. I'm sitting here in the heat, can't really live upstairs because of the black mold. I'm at a loss for what to do."

"I used the company Dtek for a mold removal service. I had an issue with mold under the home and in bathroom. I found the owner to be very knowledgeable, she knew just where the problem was and what to do to solve it. Dtek's pricing was the least costly of any competitor in the area. I had a great experience overall. The workers were punctual, their expertise was valuable, and they did not add extra charges or fees. She even checked with us once the remediation was over to ensure we were satisfied."

Mold Testing and Remediation questions, answered by experts

No. When dry, mold enters a dormant state. While “sleeping,” the mold won’t multiply, but when it encounters moisture again, it springs back to life, releasing spores. That's why it's crucial to not only control humidity but also actively eliminate mold to prevent its resurgence and further growth inside your home.

Some of the most common signs of sensitivity or illness from mold include congestion, eye irritation, difficulty breathing, and headaches. These symptoms may not lead to long-term health issues. However, some types of mold, like toxic black mold, can make you quite ill. You may experience respiratory issues, skin rashes, or neurological issues after exposure because of the toxicity. Infants, people with compromised immune systems, and older adults can suffer the most severe reactions.

If you believe mold is hidden somewhere in your home, don’t delay inspecting it, as it can be dangerous, especially to people with breathing problems and allergies. While it’s possible to learn how to check for mold yourself, we advise most people to hire a professional mold inspector, who can look more thoroughly. You can also purchase mold test kits if you aren’t sure if your home has mold, but a true human inspector is still your best bet.

Yes, carpet mold can spread if not addressed properly or quickly. Mold can spread to underneath the carpet, impacting the subfloor or attached walls. Mold and mildew can spread within the first 72 hours, so it is important to address the problem quickly and remove any affected carpet.

If you have mold under your vinyl flooring, it’s recommended that you have it ripped out and start fresh. Mold isn’t something to take lightly and should involve a visit from a professional who can both test and identify the mold. If you’re determined to remedy it yourself, wear all the proper protective equipment—eye goggles, a high N-rated mask, and long, disposable gloves.
