"It turned out well. I used it shortly after I purchased the deal. There were additional charges beyond the big deal amount as I had them repair something that they found while doing it. They did everything as advertised and then in addition to that, they also fixed some molding around the chimney that had become cracked and weathered. I had not used them before. There have been no issues since the service was provided."

"Other than that, I was happy with them. American Home Shield recommended Destiny Air of Alvin, TX. I was happy with them until now. In July, the 10 month old air conditioner, dehumidifier did not work. Someone came out on July 6th and supposedly fixed it. I was gone until coming home the end of July and the humidity upstairs was the same. Someone came out on August 8th and repaired it as of today, it is drier upstairs. In the meanwhile, black mold came through the air ducts. Someone is supposed to come out on August 29th in the morning to take care of this. Today is the 25th, I have been calling them up to seven times a day with no response. The downstairs AC is 3 years old. Coming home on the 19th after a lovely trip- that AC did not work. It took 6 days for a service man to come out. He was 2 hours late, discovered something had to be replaced and it had to be ordered. It should take 2-3 days. Today, is 6 days later and nobody has called me back. I'm sitting here in the heat, can't really live upstairs because of the black mold. I'm at a loss for what to do."

"I used the company Dtek for a mold removal service. I had an issue with mold under the home and in bathroom. I found the owner to be very knowledgeable, she knew just where the problem was and what to do to solve it. Dtek's pricing was the least costly of any competitor in the area. I had a great experience overall. The workers were punctual, their expertise was valuable, and they did not add extra charges or fees. She even checked with us once the remediation was over to ensure we were satisfied."

Mold Testing and Remediation questions, answered by experts

Mold damage devalues a home in two ways: monetarily and emotionally. The numerical amount of mold damage devaluation can be 20% to 37%, which is substantial when house prices are often over $250,000. The second factor to consider is the emotional one: many buyers are hesitant to purchase a home that either has, or had, significant mold damage. For these reasons, it’s very important to deal with any mold issues immediately.

Water and electricity are a dangerous duo, so you should always proceed with caution as you inspect your washing machine and attempt to fix or replace any parts. We recommend working with a trained professional when you have a big leak on your machine to avoid fire risks from short-circuiting and electrocution from live wires in your appliance.

A mold inspection costs an average of $660, with a typical range between $300 and $1,025. However, costs can be as low as $150 or as high as $2,800 depending on several factors. These include the size of your home, the type of mold, the extent and accessibility of the affected area, your location, and the number and type of samples required. Hard-to-reach areas like air ducts, crawl spaces, and wall cavities can increase the cost. Specific tests have different prices; for example, swab testing typically costs $200 to $300 per area, while more extensive air testing can range from $250 to $700. A thorough inspection is crucial for determining the scope of the problem and identifying the best remediation method.

Iron sediments from rusty pipes are not likely to cause health problems. While a glass of yellow-hued water is off-putting, it is generally safe to drink yellow water in the short term. But you certainly want to address this problem. In the meantime, switching to bottled water until the yellow water issue is resolved is a good idea.

Drywall can be toxic to the environment and to humans in some cases. As drywall breaks down in a landfill and comes in contact with other organic chemicals, it can create hydrogen sulfide gas or leach into the groundwater. Additionally, the CDC recommends methods for controlling the inhalation of drywall dust when handled. While the common ingredients of drywall—gypsum, silica, and mica—are naturally occurring, they can cause irritation in some humans.
