"Adam was very professional, punctual and knowledgeable. He did great quality work in a timely manner and we were very pleased. He replaced two interior doors with 15 light doors and two hollow doors to the attic with solid core doors. He installed exterior thresholds to the walk in attic space. He also replaced the gas closer on storm door at the entrance to our home. He finished the job in one day and we are very happy with his work. We would definitely hire him again."

Awnings questions, answered by experts

You can indeed open your awning in winter. It’s a misconception that you can only open retractable awnings in the warmer months. In fact, modern awnings are strong enough to offer a little respite from the snow if you’re someone who enjoys sipping hot cocoa outside on a beautiful winter day. But if a big storm is coming, such as a hurricane or a blizzard, it’s best to close your awning until the weather calms down.

Stainless steel and copper are the most durable and will probably last the longest, especially when you compare them to fabric awnings. Steel is the most popular if your budget isn’t a top priority, but some people prefer copper awnings over steel because they are lighter, which makes them easier to install. Aluminum offers a more budget-friendly metal awning option that is still attractive and offers some durability, especially compared to fabric.

Costs depend on material type, design complexity, and additional features like lighting or gutters.

The main disadvantage of an awning window is that you can’t use it to escape in an emergency. Another disadvantage of awning windows is that they can get dirty quicker than other types of windows that don’t open outward, especially if you keep them open when it’s raining or snowing. You can hire a local window replacement installer to decide if an awning window is right for your home.

Yes, you can replace just the fabric on an awning without having to replace the entire awning frame and hardware. This process will take a professional about one to two hours. If you want to DIY, it could take longer, especially for large or retractable awnings. Replacing the fabric on an awning can improve the look of your home and help naturally cool your interior and exterior spaces.
