"I call the company to get the septic tank cleaned out. Septic works stated they couldn?t locate the tank but could find it for $225. I paid the $225 and 3 minutes later they found the tank. A $400 septic job changed to a $675 job because they would have had to dig a hole to clean the tank. So I told them that?s ok because I see where this was going. I just located another company and they found the tank and cleaning it for the price stated without telling me a an extra fee for locating a job that they are about to get paid for. Thanks Angi list but no thanks! I?ll never use this again.."

Not what I had hoped for since they didn't fix it the first time. They didn't follow any sort of social distancing, wearing of gloves, etc. even when dealing with us with Covid going on."

Yes, you can shock a well yourself, but it can be dangerous if you don’t know what you’re doing. The precharged pressure tank should start at around 28 psi. The two pressure settings of note are the cut-in and cut-out pressure. The well pump starts when the tank reaches the minimum cut-in pressure. It turns off when the tank reaches the maximum cut-out pressure. The desired water pressure in the household is usually a few psi above the cut-in number. The difference between the cut-in and cut-out pressure settings should be 20 psi. Typical settings for household applications include 20/40, 30/50, and 40/60.

Most professionals recommend that a deep well pump shouldn’t run more than 10 hours consecutively before cycling off. Overworking the well pump beyond the recommended amount can prematurely wear out your pump and burn out the motor, which means replacing it more often than you otherwise should need to. Your well pump should also come with the manufacturer’s use and maintenance recommendations that are specific to the model.

With regular servicing, a well pump usually lasts between eight and 15 years. Variables include level of usage, frequency of servicing, and pump quality. You may also be able to hire a local well pump repair service to fix your pump rather than replace it. 

However, often the cost to fix significant problems is as much as or greater than replacing the damaged pump with a new one.

If your water pump fails, the first step is to turn off the power to the pump to prevent any further damage. Check for common issues such as clogs, electrical problems, or mechanical failures.
