"I met Gabe through a friend. I had a few trees with large dead limbs, with the potential for causing a hazardous situation. He called me from a job in Baker, said he was leaving heading my way. He was at my house in about 25 minutes. He looked the situation over, gave me a recommendation and a quote. Was also given a price for mulching a section of my property that was overgrown with yaupon and brush. He returned a few days later to trim the trees. He brought out his mulcher a few days later and cleared my property. He did a fantastic job, and I would highly recommend Gabe. He’s truly a man of his word"

"Hank's Tree and Tractor did a great job on removing a large oak tree from my front yard! Cleaned up when they were done after they trimmed a couple dead branches from the other tree in my front yard that was not part of the quote."

"These guys took down an old fence to remove the tree. When putting the fence back up it broke. The guys stayed and repaired the fence which was way above and beyond. Terrific service, prompt response on estimate, very reasonable cost and showed up when they said they would."

If you don’t mind the branches, you can leave them be, but if they’re becoming a hazard, it’s definitely worth having a conversation.

Homeowners are usually not responsible for trees that fall on power lines. Power companies usually have utility easements around power lines, which give them the responsibility to maintain any trees within about 15 to 20 feet of the lines.

Not all evergreen conifers need to be pruned, but some do. Pruning pine trees is not necessary, but you can do so during June and July if you wish. On the other hand, spruce, firs, and junipers do need to be pruned from late winter to early spring.

The best time to trim trees is in late fall through winter when the tree has slowed its growing for the year. Cold weather stops insects and fungal growth from attacking a new tree wound. A plum tree's central leader (or trunk) should never extend more than 3 feet above the highest branch. When you first plant your tree, cut the central leader so it’s 2 to 3 feet tall. As it grows, cut it back 12 to 20 inches until it reaches its desired height. Never prune more than one-third of the new growth.
