We were building a "million $+" house on Pensacola beach and wanted it to shine. Louis designed and directed us to greenery for the backyard that was quiet and comforting, a relaxing atmosphere. For the street side, he listened to what we wanted to present and provided the landscaping to make it 'pop' from the street view, highlighting our home's presence. A few years later we bought a rental in East Hill Pensacola and needed to take it from mid-century boring to Florida-style appeal. We worked together and came up with just the right trees to give the home street appeal. So, now as we build another "million $+" home in the Heights area of Pensacola we went to Louis and the team. Alex helped us pick out cold-sensitive greenery to go around the pool to give it a calming, oasis feel while adding value to our home. We are working tight schedules with the pool, paver, fencing, and landscaping. Louis came by after hours and assured us that he would make it happen. "Honestly, my system was a nightmare. The original system came with the house. Later, a local landscaper did the last well and submersable pump and worked on the system. At that time, the spray was so powerful, with what smelled like swamp water, that it would blow huge plumes of mist into the air rather than spray water on the plants. Everything hit the house and cars staining them a rust color. Heads along the house would literally explode off hitting the eve and sending a powerful jet of water into the fascia board and the attic. Water also soaked the wood fence causing rot.
This is a family business. It's been in operation long enough that I'm shocked I didn't know of them before. Given their work, they should have a wide, and great, reputation. Brad came out to inspect the system. He listened to me, inspected the system, and gave me his recommendations. He called his dad, and verified parts of his plan. Since my system was something of a nightmare, Keith, Brad's father, made an inspection the next day to fine tune their plan. He discussed it with me, provided an estimate of around $400.
Everything planned was perfect for my system, and the estimate lower than expected. They scheduled via Angie's List messages and telephone. They made appointments and when delayed, called me to make sure it was okay with me. They were prompt and professional.
They did the job faster than I expected they could. Now, the sprayers put out a spray of water on the plants. There is no mist being blown back at the house or cars. Nothing hits the house, cars or fence. The lawn and plants are watered. Three zones mean the watering period is shorter. Watching it run, is like looking at a brand new sprinkler system. I almost expect to see a new house too, the difference is so dramatic. I am more pleased than I could have anticipated. The final price of $475 was a bargain for the wonderful result. "In our move to Foley the bases on two of my porcelain lamps were broken.  It was very difficult to find someone in this area who repaired lamps.  Mathes Lighting (which is one of the worst lighting stores I have ever seen-they are totally commercial-no wiring, don't sell shades, etc.) said that knew no one in the area.  Also called a decorator thinking they might have a name but to no avail. I persevered and finally found Sam and his company Help Around The House.  He was listed under handyman/restoration work but it did list lamp repair.  I called and he said he certainly did.  (I called Mathes and the decorator back and gave them Sam's number.  He has now had numerous calls about repairing lamps.)  At any rate he was working close by so I took the lamps to him along with the one with the broken socket.  It took him  a while to fix the bases because he had a hard time finding the decorative bases for the lamps that didn't have a huge price tag.  But, he too, persevered and found the perfect bases at an excellent price.  He delivered the lamps to my house and I am very pleased with them.
He charges $25 a lamp plus materials.  I think that is very reasonable.
He apparently can do any kind of renovation work, build cabinets, etc. but I only used him for lamps so that is all I can comment on.
I would highly recommend him for fixing lamps-both the decorative part and rewiring.
