"Kelvin was quick to come out and check our furnace. It was beyond repair, which we expected, due to the age of the unit. Kelvin gave us a quote and Tesha in the office, helped us obtain financing. The time frame between Kelvin assessing our old unit and having the new unit installed was three days!! We couldn't have asked for any more honest, quicker, courteous, nicer, or better service than we received. If we could recommend Kelvin, Tesha, and Aire Serv with more than 5 stars, we would!!! Kelvin even called 24 hours after installation to make sure the unit was running as we expected and if we had any questions. Call this company!! You will be happy you did!"

"Chris took the time to not only explain the problem with my unit but also explained each option we had to remedy the issue. As someone who likes to understand things thoroughly, he was very patient with my questions and answered them in a way that was relatable to someone who doesn’t know much about these systems apart from operating them. I’ll continue to hire Oasis Air to take care of our home comfort when needed in the future."

Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

When deciding whether to repair or replace your air conditioner, several factors should be considered. It is generally worth repairing the unit if it's less than 10 years old, the warranty is still active, and you're dealing with a one-off issue. Most central AC units last about 15 years, while window units last 8 to 10 years. If your unit is approaching or has surpassed the 10-year mark and requires frequent or costly repairs (e.g., over $5,000), replacement is often the more sensible long-term investment. For older, inefficient, or out-of-warranty units experiencing multiple problems, replacing it is typically the better choice.

You may never need an AC recharge if there are no leaks. However, if your AC unit has a leak that cannot be patched appropriately, you’ll need an AC recharge every time the freon level drops low enough that it disrupts your system—this could be once every two to three years. It all depends on the size and frequency of the leak.

The outdoor portions of air conditioners are designed to weather the rain, so you don’t need to worry about it. An awning or roof will help protect them from snow or falling debris, which can do more damage. This is true of both window AC and outdoor units for larger systems.

No, it isn’t necessarily bad to turn your AC on and off frequently—contrary to popular belief. Even if you stop and start your AC throughout the day, it won’t use as much energy as it would if you ran it nonstop.

If you’re concerned about your power consumption and energy costs, there are a few simple ways to use your AC more efficiently. Regularly cleaning the filters, scheduling routine maintenance, and using a programmable thermostat are all great choices.

While spending money once or twice a year to tuneup your AC and furnace might seem like a waste of money, think again. The cost of HVAC maintenance is far less than the cost of replacing your furnace or AC unit, regardless of the type of HVAC system you have. Paying this smaller fee now will help you avoid paying much more significant costs in the future. Not to mention, having a serviced AC and heating system will help keep your home comfortable, no matter the season.
