"I hired M&C Landscapers (Mike) in November 2024 through Angi, and it turned into a costly mistake. Instead of doing a simple fence paint job correctly, he splattered paint all over both sides of my home?s siding, causing permanent damage. When I reached out to him for a resolution, he refused to take responsibility and told me to ?feel free to do what you have to do? insinuating going to small claims court. No fix, no refund, no accountability ? just damage left behind after being paid in full. This was some of the most careless workmanship and worst customer service I?ve ever experienced and this is my first ever bad review that I?ve done in my life. I strongly warn anyone considering M&C Landscapers: protect your home and hire someone else."

"Pedro was very polite and professional. He quickly fixed the problem, and even reattached my dryer hose, which was a big help, as I always have trouble attaching it securely. 10/10"

Drywall Insulation questions, answered by experts

2x4 walls can hold R-13 or R-15 batts of insulation, which is usually about 3.5 inches thick. You should also check with your local building codes to see if there’s a required thickness you need to adhere to.

You can also use R-value maps to determine the best thickness and ratings for where you live. For example, someone in Texas doesn’t need as thick of insulation as someone in Montana. Energy Star has a good one you can reference.

The primary downside of radiant barriers is their limited effectiveness in cold climates. They are designed to reflect radiant heat, making them less beneficial in cooler conditions where heat retention is more important.

Radiant barriers require proper installation to maximize effectiveness. Incorrect placement can lead to minimal benefits. They also do not provide insulation, meaning they should be used in conjunction with traditional insulation for optimal energy efficiency.

Rigid foam insulation boards are one of the best insulation materials for crawl spaces. This material insulates the home well, resists water damage, and won't settle like fiberglass or cellulose. Closed-cell spray foam insulation is another effective insulation that both seals the air and provides excellent thermal protection for hard-to-reach spaces like crawl spaces.

You do not need to drywall over most types of garage insulation. However, doing so can increase noise reduction, make the space more attractive, and keep children and pets from touching harmful fiberglass insulation. If you’re using cellulose or some other type of blown-in insulation (fiberglass and mineral wool are common), you will need drywall to contain the insulation material.

Insulation can be made of cellulose, fiberglass, polyurethane, polystyrene, or mineral wool. Radiant barriers are often made of aluminum or other similarly reflective materials, but they will need to be paired with something else because they don’t provide heating benefits. Cellulose is among the most eco-friendly options and may be recycled when it’s past its shelf-life, whereas polyurethane and polystyrene both emit harmful compounds and will need to be handled with care during installation.
