"Olympus Landscapes and Perfections has completely transformed our yard and it looks incredible now. They installed sod, a large flagstone path, a paver pad, playground mulch, fire pit with a flagstone patio, fountains, retaining walls, plants, mulch, and playground mulch. Corey is extremely hardworking, honest, reliable, and a very talented landscape designer. They've exceeded my expectations."

"Jimmy, Josh and their crews took a jungle of a back yard and made it beautiful. The designed and did the entire project. We have received dozens of compliments from our neighbors as well as the City Inspectors. The built the retaining wall and waterfall, did the grading and installed the complete drainage and irrigation systems. Their price was very fair and concrete began the project they stayed on the job until they finished. I would give them six stars if I could. Highly recommend them for all landscape related projects. "The first time we used this company it was because my Dad had just had a procedure done on his head and wasn't able to cut his own yard. Matthew actually offered to cut it for free (which we could not NOT pay him after he did such an amazing job). He said "everyone needs help every now and then". The fact that he was willing to do such a selfless act of kindness for my Dad speaks volumes to his character. On top of that, the lawn care he offers is immaculate. The yard looks great for a week or longer after cutting."

"Liquid Foundation Repairs installed a perimeter French drain system for my yard after I had been experiencing drainage issues around the back and side of the house. Itâ s a locally owned business, and Troy was very helpful and easy to work with throughout the entire process. The system drains water exceptionally well and was installed quickly and efficiently."

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

In most cases, buying plants from a local greenhouse or nursery is well worth the investment, even though they tend to be a bit more expensive than those at a home improvement store. Employees at nurseries are usually well-versed in gardening and understand how the climate in your area affects different plants. They can help you make selections based on your skill level and time commitment to your landscaping, and they can provide detailed care instructions and advice to help keep your plants alive and diagnose and treat issues like pest infestation and illness.

Surface-level tree roots might only pose a small threat, such as being a tripping hazard or obstacle when you mow your lawn. But if mature tree roots start growing in the direction of your home’s foundation or plumbing system, it could be a real problem. Cutting small tree roots out before they grow too large can keep your home safe without removing the whole tree.

The best type of rock for landscaping depends on your specific project and needs, as different rocks are suited for different applications. For covering large areas or creating an affordable driveway, consider gravel, but note that it can wash away in flowing water. For water features, river rocks are a good option. Flagstone and cobblestone are ideal for aesthetically pleasing patios and walkways. If you are building a stone wall, fieldstone or small boulders are up to the task. Large boulders and landscape rocks work well as statement pieces, to fill empty space, or to indicate boundaries, but be mindful that they can overwhelm smaller gardens. The best approach is to first define your landscaping project and then select the rock type that best fits that purpose.

You should avoid planting grass, shrubs, plants, and trees in freezing temperatures, as the ground can get frozen and become too hard for proper root growth. It’s best to plant in the fall to allow your plants to establish root systems before the first frost. Landscaping when the average temperature in your area is between 50 and 60 degrees will usually deliver the best results.

The cost to plant a small tree or sapling is between $100 and $300 on average, if you hire a professional. Big trees will cost more and usually require the work of a specialist, so expect to pay over $1,000 for those.
