"When you bring a company from Birmingham, AL down to Mobile, AL for a job, the job is either very complex requiring special expertise and/ or the local help is either not dependable or lacks the required expertise. In my case, it was all. The local help was very unreliable, not showing for appointments or unable to commit and those who were dependable, lacked construction expertise. My home in Mobile which had been rented out for 20 years had fallen into a deep decline due to poor property management. Now, it needed major renovations in framing and trim, re-building and construction, electrical and pluming and painting. Also, needed my fence rebuilt and power washed. Hopson Handyman Services out of Birmingham was The One Stop Company to get the job done! Nothing was subbed out; they did it all. As the owner, Jason Hopson, told me over the phone and in person, â I can build a house from the ground up and will have all the tools to do it right on my truckâ . That statement was 100% true. He and his wife came in and in two days renovated my entire home. They worked non-stop in 90 degree plus heat accomplishing every project from re-framing and trimming two doors, rebuilding a fence and power washing it, patching holes in walls, replacing trim in the bathrooms, repairing the ceiling and repainting it, repairing my kitchen light, replacing a toilet, repairing a vinyl floor in a utility room, repainting a kitchen appliance, perfectly matching 12 yr old paint and re-painting the house interior; repainting both the front and rear door frames, replacing fixtures and repairing my front storm door. Hopson and team did exactly what they said they would do and when. On a scale of 1-10 with â 10â being the highest, Hopson and Team performed the work to the highest quality level and dependability level of a â 12â . The outcome far exceeded my wildest dreams and he completed the work in advance of what he estimated. I will definitely use his firm again! No question about it. Hopsonâ s fee for the work is extremely reasonable and a heck of a value for the quality level you are getting! I have another property in S FL 842 miles away and guess who I will be using without question! Let me sum it up: Hopson can totally build a house from the ground up and therefore do your project for FAR LESS because he does not sub the work out but he and his team do it themselves. "I recommend James Hosmer & his crew at Halo Construction for installing ceramic tile flooring without any reservations. Here is a summary of my experience with Halo Construction: After asking around and finding no one who had been pleased with their ceramic tile installation and interviewing a couple of tile contractors who I did not choose to hire, I consulted Angie's List to find a ceramic tile installation crew to install heavy ceramic tile in an alternating -- grey & white -- diamond pattern in the bottom level of my split level home. After reading the Angie's List reviews, I called James Hosmer of Halo Construction to come and look at my tile project and he came over promptly. My husband and I decided to hire him -- even though we had to wait a month for him to begin work -- because of James's knowledgable and artistic approach to assessing the project. He immediately focused on what we wanted with the tile and layout and -- at this initial stage -- suggested that the decorative trim pieces that I had ordered be placed about 6 inches from the wall instead of directly next to the wall -- as he said the trim would show up better with a little space between the wall and the rest of the tile. And I thought about this for a second and a light went off in my head and I thought -- He's right..... He's right... Why didn't I think of that? And he offered a very reasonable price for labor and I asked him for an estimate of costs for his materials and realized later he was exactly on the money there. I signed the Contract the next day and although I had a bit of trepidation about paying $$ half up front (I only knew him from Angie's List although he did offer some recommendations from people my husband and I knew or knew of) I waited the month until his agreed upon start date and he started right on time and he and his crew were very professional in all aspects of carrying out their job. I communicated with him on the second day about one change my husband & I decided we wanted in the spacing of the tiles and although it cost him some time to redo a section -- he did not complain -- just kept his unerring focus on doing a good job and he ended up doing a great job that my husband and I plan to enjoy for years and years and years. I can't convey how very, very pleased I am with the result of the ceramic tile installation by Halo Construction -- because then I would have to bore you with my three years of selecting tile and samples cracking, advice from architects in the family, and my hesitation to finally commit to doing this first (large, for us) renovation in the home my husband & I bought 17 years ago. It can be a scary process for someone who has heard stories of bad work , etc., so having an outcome with perfect, artistically laid tile has exceeded my expectations. The work is beautiful and James is free to show you photos or to make an appointment to actually see the floor. Because of the pride James & crew take in their work and their dedication to customer satisfaction, I recommend Halo without reservation for any tile project -- big, medium, or small -- this crew knows what they are doing and they get it done right. I had the pleasure of meeting James's adorably cute and plucky three year old and think that when anyone asks her what her dad does, she should reply that he makes other people's houses beautiful! Hire this team and you will not be sorry....
