We recycle wood from barns, buildings, old warehouses and either mill the beams into custom hardwood flooring, re-work the beams for timber frame structures, custom millwork, no job is too big or too small! ALL of our materials are reclaimed, we have NO NEW wood at all! The appearance of this old antique wood is amazing and unlike materials of today. Small family owned and operated business with a very BIG name :)

"Poor quality wood. The milling process done by James and Co. was substandard and the planks would not fit together without large gaps. The installation was done by a company suggested by them. We were told by owners that the wood would be replaced, but that never happened."

Outdoor Kitchens questions, answered by experts

You can build an outdoor kitchen on a deck, but you should choose composite decking since it's more heat-resistant. Metal deck materials like steel and aluminum are also good choices because they're less flammable than wood. You should also consider the weight of the kitchen—make sure your deck can support it and any appliances you plan to use. You should consult a structural engineer to confirm exactly how much weight your deck can safely support when building an outdoor kitchen.

How big a fire pit should be depends on how many people you want to get around it on a regular basis, and how big your space is. The average fire pit size is between 36 and 44 inches. However, if you regularly host big gatherings and have the appropriate outdoor space, you can go as big as 72 inches.

The average cost of an outdoor kitchen is around $15,500. However, since outdoor kitchens are highly customizable, you could spend anywhere from $5,000 to over $50,000 for your setup. Some important factors that can affect your pricing include the size of the kitchen, the materials you use—specifically for the countertop—the type of grill you want, and any add-on products you want coupled with your installation.

Weatherproofing and winterizing your outdoor kitchen is extremely important, especially if you experience intense weather events. Make sure to choose weather-resistant furniture and waterproof containers to store ingredients. Also, go with a high-quality grill that’s built to last and protect your cabinets with sealant or varnish. Finally, invest in a covering of some kind for when it rains or snows.

A few materials are most commonly used when it comes to building a frame for an outdoor kitchen: wood, steel, and concrete or brick. While there’s no best option overall, each material is better suited to different needs. Concrete and brick are typically more customizable than other options, but aren’t as resistant to inclement weather as steel. Wood is the most affordable pick, but it is more susceptible to rot, mildew, and heat than the others.
