"I  wish there were more service providers around like David Coffey.  He is everything every other reviewer said and more.  I called him one morning and he came out that afternoon with his worker,Ryan.  They spent 2 hrs looking over my situation.  I have never had a more thorough estimate and evaluation done.  They went all through my house and came up with an installation plan.  Then 2 days later, they arrived on the scene to do the job.  Wow!  They arrived at 9am and worked that night til 9pm.  They weren't quite finished and came back 2 days later, worked 3 more hours and completed the job.  I can't think of enough words to describe my experience.  David was informed, honest, considerate, clean, determined to do the job right, etc.  It was a very pleasant situation.  He guaranteed the radon reading to be 2.6,but he took mine down to 1.5.  The fan he installed is so quiet,I didn't think he had it up and running.  The piping is strategically placed and not glaringly obvious.
When I see reviews like this,I don't always believe them.  Believe this.  He is the best.  I only wish I could use him for every other issue that comes up with homeownership.  Sign me off as a very satisfied customer!

"Called Mr. Love, told him what I thought was the problem. He arived that same afternoon, looked at the problem, had the needed parts on his truck and it was fixed in a very short time. He also put a bathroom vent cover back on that I had removed for cleaning. I fooled with the cover for 20 minutes without any luck and Mr. Love had it mounted and up and running again in 5 minutes. Good guy that is knowledgeable with a good attitude.and his labor is also reasonably priced.."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Keeping your air filter clean is crucial for your heat pump's efficiency. As a general rule, you should check your air filter every 1 to 3 months. However, the actual frequency might vary depending on factors like the type of filter, indoor air quality, and the amount of dust and debris in your area. If you notice the filter is visibly dirty or clogged, it's a clear sign it needs attention sooner. Regular filter maintenance ensures proper airflow and helps your heat pump perform optimally, keeping your indoor air fresh and comfortable.

No, heat pump maintenance needs are very similar to air conditioners, including keeping outdoor units clean, changing filters regularly, and occasionally scheduling a refrigerant check to see if any has leaked out. Heat pumps typically switch automatically between heating and cooling, so you don’t need to worry about manually changing them every season. However, since they are always on call, they can develop wear and tear faster than an air conditioner.

If you’re trying to buy a new AC unit, there are a few crucial factors to consider. Look at the cooling capacity, the available warranty, the energy efficiency, and the type of unit. A ductless unit will cost more up front but may be a more viable option if you don’t already have ductwork. Additionally, a unit with better energy efficiency will cost less to run overall, saving you money on your monthly energy bill.

No, you should not attempt to replace an AC evaporator coil yourself. This is a complex task that must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician. The process involves handling hazardous and flammable refrigerants, which poses significant safety risks. Attempting a DIY replacement can also cause further damage to your HVAC system and will likely void its warranty. It is necessary to hire a local AC repair professional for this job.

While many states do not have specific licensing requirements for HVAC companies, your local city or county might. It's always a good idea to check local requirements online and use a tool like Angi’s contractor license lookup to confirm that the company you’re considering is licensed. Regardless of licensing, you should always ensure the company you hire is fully insured to avoid potential lawsuits if a technician is injured on your property. Additionally, it is recommended to check if the company holds third-party certifications, such as North American Technician Excellence (NATE) certification or R-410A certification, which qualifies them to work with HVAC refrigerants.
