"Work completed by Brad Rogers Paint contractors in two days:o  Repaired sheetrock in laundry to get ready for wallpaper.o  Repaired 8 holes in garage ceiling where plumbers were locating hot and cold water pipes in order to move the hot  water tank from the laundry room on main floor to garage (basement) floor.  Applied new sheetrock; this required enlarging holes to the nearest stud on two or more sides.  Finished patches with mud.   Scraped texture from previous water damage spots.   Reseated main floor MBR toilet anc regrouted head of tub next to toilet where water had leaked.  Cut out two rectangles of wet sheetrock (below the toilet and the left front corner of the garage; replaced with new sheetrock; and mudded.  Painted entire garage ceiling. Applied new texture t entire garage ceilng. Repaired crack on third floor running from ceiling to top of door (due to house settling) and used the matching antique white paint to cover.  You'd never know a crack existed. Two people worked Friday and four people worked Saturday.   All worked fast and professionally.  My husband and I were very impressed.

Toilets questions, answered by experts

First, check that you have cut off the water supply to your toilet. This is a project that can only be done safely if running water cannot reach your toilet fixture. If you're seeing water trickle out after you've confirmed that the water supply is shut off, you can probably rest assured that what you're seeing isn't a problem. It's common for leftover water to spill out when you're removing your toilet's fill valve. If something goes wrong while you're working on your toilet, you'll need to look at your home's policy to see if your homeowner insurance covers water damage.

The normal water level in a toilet bowl is about halfway full. The water should sit above the P trap drain because this creates a seal and suction. When you flush the toilet, the suction keeps sewer gases from entering your house through your toilet. Anytime the water level is higher or lower than half full, you need to make adjustments or replace broken parts.

Yes, you should caulk a toilet to the floor for several reasons. Bathrooms are constantly wet—and if water splashes out of your shower and collects on your floor, you don’t want it seeping underneath your toilet, where it could potentially cause damage. Plus, caulk adds stability and helps prevent your toilet from wobbling.

The amount of water wasted when a toilet ghost flushes depends on the cause of the ghost flushing. Leaky flapper valves tend to waste less water than a larger problem like a damaged flush valve that makes the toilet run constantly. Even if you don’t think you’re wasting a lot of water, it’s still a problem that should be fixed quickly.

You can DIY your toilet flapper replacement if you’re up for a small plumbing project. Turn off the water to the toilet, open the tank lid, remove the chain from the lever, and unhook the flapper. For a new, adjustable flapper, adjust it to the right setting according to your toilet's gallons per flush rating. Hook the flapper in place and install the chain with 1/2 inch of slack.
