We repair patio sliding doors and windows .

"Went very well. Larry showed up at 8:30AM as scheduled . Doors were very old, both screws and rollers on doors were odd size. Larry left and returned within an hour with the correct parts. He and his co-worker cleaned the slider rails and replaced the rollers. Doors now slide good as new."

"You should probably add 4-6 weeks to the expected delivery date if you expect to need the "enclosed" hardware. I received the blinds in the estimated time, but it came without the required hardware. I have made 4 calls (at least) over several weeks, but the hardware is nowhere in site. It is clear that SelectBlinds.com is a marketing company only has outsourced all production and fulfillment to third parties and evidently has a difficult time coordinating these type of customer service issue. Extremely frustrating that my blinds have been sitting in the floor for over a month and all I need is a few screws. Happy to go to Home Depot to get the screws, but SelectBlinds can't even tell me what sizes I need."

There are several ways to keep your existing windows from letting in noise. You can install sound-dampening curtains or other window treatments that help deaden noise vibrations. Make sure any gaps around the window are sealed with acoustic caulk. Installing acrylic or plexiglass on the inside of windows still allows you to take in the outdoor views while also stifling sounds from coming in and out. 

If you try all of these steps and still have noise coming in, it might be time to install new windows.

Most manufacturers have their name imprinted somewhere on the window, such as the spacer bar, hardware, or frame. Other manufacturers will include an identification number printed on the glass itself. If you’re unable to find either of these, then your window was manufactured locally (oftentimes called a “shop window”). 

With a manufacturer name (or even better, the identification number) you can attempt to research the information to find out when the product was made. Keep in mind this won’t tell you when the window was installed on your home, but can get you close.

There are more than five window types, but five of the most popular types include casement windows, sliding windows, double-hung windows, picture windows, and awning windows. Each style offers something different. Some are great for ventilation, others for letting in light, and some can do a bit of both. For kitchens, specifically, it helps to think about how often you’ll open the window, how easy it is to clean, and whether it fits well in the space you have.

When specifying window sizes, manufacturers use a standard four-digit code system. The first two numbers represent window width, and the last two represent window height. For example, a window with a code of 2917 has dimensions of 2 feet, 9 inches wide by 1 foot, 7 inches high. Windows with even dimensions include zeros as placeholders. For example, a window that is 5 feet wide by 2 feet high would have a code of 5020.

When your double-hung window upper sash keeps falling down, it means you could be letting out warm air in the winter or cool air from the AC in the summer. That means your HVAC system works harder to warm or cool the house, costing you extra on electric bills.

If the lower sash continues to fall down, it means when you’ve popped open the window for fresh air, it could slam shut. In addition to being inconvenient, this could be dangerous if you have small kids, children, or pets that like to hang out by the window.
