"Everything went very well. Russ and Matt worked with us to make sure that the patio was done well, and suggested several improvements to our original idea. The end result came out great. Would definitely work with them again."

"This was a messy job.  This is an old cabin that has been added onto several times.  The core cabin foundation was bad and some of the area around it was rotting.  The workers, usually JP and James, were amazing.  They called when they couldn't come, told us when they left early, and showed up when they said they would show up.  They would tell us when something was worse than anticipated and show us the problem and what they recommended as the solution.  They kept the budget in mind but managed to do so much more than originally planned.  They dug out and cleaned the cramped crawlspace so we could get down there.  They cleaned out a mess down there. They realized we needed steps down and put them in.  They relocated the septic clean out to a better place while doing another project.  They repaired the sump pump.  They were willing to do anything they saw needed doing even if it wasn't strictly specified in the original contract."

Patios questions, answered by experts

A screened-in porch requires maintenance to keep the screens clean and in good shape, and you may have to do some screen repair or replacement from time to time. A screen porch isn’t an all-season porch, so the weather can get in, including wind and rain.

A sunroom offers an additional indoor space to rest, dine, or host guests, all while inviting in as much sun as possible. Either built like an enclosed porch or a fully insulated home extension, a sunroom features floor-to-ceiling windows or screens that create an open, bright design while still remaining protected from the elements and bugs.

In most parts of the U.S., adding a screened-in porch requires a building permit. Since this type of project often involves structural work and changes to your home’s footprint, homeowners should adhere to local guidelines. That said, permit rules can vary widely depending on where you live and how extensive the project is. Before you start sketching out plans or ordering materials, check in with your city or county’s building department to avoid headaches, fines, and potential structural issues down the line.

A professional can design and construct sunrooms or patio enclosures that meet structural standards, optimize environmental conditions, and integrate seamlessly with existing architecture. This ensures the project enhances home value and provides long-term enjoyment.

Building a sunroom is usually less expensive than the cost of building a home addition, but it depends on the type of sunroom. A four-season sunroom will cost more than a home addition because it’s basically a home addition with larger, more expensive windows. All other types of sunrooms will be more affordable than a home addition of an equivalent size because they don’t have insulation, heating, cooling, electrical connections, or plumbing.
