"FANTASTIC! We found Bay Home Inspections through Angie's List as we do for most contractors and service providers. The firm had a high number of "A" ratings on Angie's List and will have another "A" rating there from me when I finish this review! Mr. Bender, the principal owner of Bay Home Inspections, called me immediately after my inquiry and explained the service to be provided and the fee. In that call, he emphasized his desire to provide exemplary service in a timely manner. Mr. Bender certainly lived up to both of those standards. We requested a home inspection and were able to obtain an appointment time that was within only a few days of our initial contact. Mr. Bender explained that the inspection would take a few hours and offered to call us a short time before he expected to be done so that we would not have to wait around the home during the entire inspection. Though he did not know it at the time, I had recently had foot surgery and greatly appreciated his thoughtfulness about the amount of time we would need to spend at the inspection. The inspection was extremely thorough, and Mr. Bender took the time to explain the "highlights" of his findings while we were there. He promised to have the full report to us within two business days. The inspection date was on a Friday afternoon so we expected the report by the following Tuesday. His email with the full report was received before we went to bed on the day of the inspection. Being in a service business myself, I admire other companies who hold the same philosophy I've had -- "UNDER-promise; OVER-deliver!" The report included one detailed section (30 pages) with several photos identifying all areas of concern. Each concern was "graded" as to its severity, clearly indicating items that were safety issues, items that were recommended for immediate repair or replacement, items that were routine maintenance issues, etc. The report also included a 7-page summary ordered by level of concern. Throughout the process, Mr. Bender was polite, professional, personable, and highly detail-oriented. Though we hope the home we are considering purchasing is the last we may buy, if we were ever to need another home inspection, Bay Home Inspections will be our choice! Considering the time and effort he put into our project, I think he was UNDERPAID. p.s. I am quick to provide reviews for service companies with whom I an unhappy but equally quick to provide positive reviews like this for companies that exceed my expectations.
