JW Home Improvement
We had an excellent experience with JW Home Improvement. The handymen, Gustavo and John, were very professional, knowledgeable and efficient. They did a very thorough job and were clearly perfectionists - this demonstration that the work being well done was important to them put me greatly at ease. They also noticed our front door was not working properly, so they fixed it. Now our front door works for the first time since we moved in! The work they completed looks fantastic and far exceeded my expectations. Later, we had a bit of an issue with billing, but I was able to speak directly to Ed, who resolved the issue quickly and extremely courteously. Overall, we will definitely use JW Home Improvement again and we will specifically request Gustavo and John.

Windows on Washington
Windows on Washington helped with repair and installation of two front door sidelites and a transom under the door manufacturer's warranty. There was an issue of water getting past or under the threshold and being wicked up into and rotting the door jamb and frame. Eric from Windows on Washington diagnosed the problem and advocated on my behalf to get the entire sidelites/transom unit replaced under manufacturer's warranty. When the door manufacturer's installer came to replace the unit, Eric showed up with a crew of 3 to help. He made sure the subfloor was built up to provide proper drainage and prevent wind-driven rain from getting under the threshold. He and his crew were instrumental in getting the replacement door unit installed properly. Since 2009, Windows on Washington has done several projects for me, replacing all my windows, my front door, and air sealing my basement. Every project was done to my satisfaction. They are always responsive to my questions (and I had many), especially Eric, who is very knowledgeable about aspects of the products they use and the work they do. They are honest, fair, and trustworthy. Their after-service support, should you need it, is unparalleled. I wholeheartedly recommend Windows on Washington as the contractor of choice for all they do.

Mr. Handyman of Anne Arundel and North PG
My kitchen faucet could not be repaired so I had Mr Handyman replace it. Also my front door was constantly sticking and coming off it's hinges so - Mr Handyman (Jim) took the door off it's hinges and removed the wood lining the bottom that had become rotten. He scraped it and replaced it with new wood. Then installed weather stripping and new screws for the hinges. Now - it works perfect. Their people always do a good job and I'm never disappointed.

Sam I Am Your Handyman
I called Sam and discussed the needed repairs and estimated costs. Sam showed up on time and went right to work. Sam's work and costs is excellent, and I plan to hire Sam again for some larger projects. I would recommend Sam without hesitation.

Lacey Home Repairs
Steve was great to work with from start to finish. He did an excellent and thorough job on the shower recaulking/regrouting (the main thing that we called him in for) but also took the time to point out some other items that we might want to consider looking at, and some cost-saving suggestions that would not involve us hiring him. When he took a look at an issue we were having with one of our windows, he recommended another contractor that might be able to repair it without the necessity for a replacement. We would definitely hire him again.

JW Home Improvement
Everything went exactly as I was told by the company represent that initially came out to give me a cost estimate. I made an appt for the crew to come to do the work. The crew arrived on the schedule day right on time. While one crew member began the demo the other went off to the lumber yard to get the supplies needed. The crew worked fast and the scope of work was accomplished on the low side of the estimate. Other than a few bent nails that were pounded into the siding instead of being removed and replaced - the work went well and I am very please with the results. Since I was paying the hourly labor charge for the crew member to go off and get the supplies needed for the job (which I knew about upfront) I was a little concern how long this would take. I knew exactly how far the lumber yard was and I am not sure I could have made the trip any faster. I am satisfied I knew all the potential costs going in and I received what I paid for. I would use JW in a handyman capacity again. The JW Home Improvements coupon I purchased through Angie's List in advanced saved me $117 on the cost of the total job. I highly recommend looking at the coupons available from Angie's List when you are thinking about any type of work around the house as you never know what you might find.

JW Home Improvement
Very professional and performed all requests within time and budget. Estimate was for 4 hours to do 3 different repairs, but the repairman was actually able to complete it (and I was only charged for) 3 hours. Work was done well, and clean-up was very good. I would certainly recommend JW and would use them again!

It went very well. The handyman Bill showed up on time and went right to work. He finished earlier than we planned so I asked him to look at several windows in our home that were painted shut.

The Handyman Can LLC
I called Will Grant because my front door sweep was quite deteriorated. Over the winter, I just put a carpet up against it, but it really needed repair. He told me he was booked several weeks out, but since it was a small job he would try to fit me in. A few days later he said he could come and came on time and quickly repaired the door. I had mentioned an area where insulation was removed for a repair in the basement and I thought it needed replacement. Will looked at it and said it could just be cleaned up and did not need replacement since the area was totally underground. Then he repaired a toilet flap that was misaligned and leaking. The bill was less than his over the phone guestimate. Will was courteous and professional and on time. I will use him again when I need a handyman.

S & J Painting & Remodeling
We had a small fire in our house that was luckily contained to the small bathroom downstairs. The fire was started by the bathroom exhaust fan. We weren't home at the time so the fire department had to breakdown the front door. The end result was soot stained entire bathroom. Jerry was very friendly and broke down the details of what his company does which is a labor based company only. They provide the labor and we provide the design & materials which keeps the cost down to a minimal. He walked me through the whole process on what would be required to do and how much time it would actually take. The small half bathroom and front door was estimated to take 2 ½ days of labor to complete based on what he thought. FYI ? all other contractors were stating a lot longer for just a simple job. He said we could work with Nestor (Forman) to obtain the materials so we didn?t have to pay for delivery or get materials we didn?t need. The materials weren?t hard to figure out but Nestor was able to help me get the right materials. The main items I focused on were the vanity items for the bathroom. We had to get some materials on the fly and they provided receipts for materials for cash reimbursement (with no upcharge for getting it). The materials ran us about $1000 for the complete gut and replacement of everything in a 4x4 bathroom (down to base boards). The front door was taken care of in a ½ day and was just a replacement of a piece of the frame luckily which was built into overall cost of the job. The job had a few bumps but nothing we couldn?t work through. First off we decided to change the bathroom vanity up to a pedestal sink which had some issues with the drainage piping. We opted for showing the drainage pipe to avoid extra cost and just have them paint the pipe white to match everything. Second issue came up was the quoted for total time not for drying time on the job so the job took longer than expected but we only paid for when the work was actually happening. Last issue was the lighting switch had some old wiring so we had to replace some of the wiring but at least they didn?t have to put holes in the wall and it only took an hour of time. Nestor was our primary person once the job got started he kept us informed each day when it was getting close to time to go for the day. Our first day was mainly spent 1-2 hours getting materials and 2-3 hours getting the bathroom gutted down to the base boards. Nestor was the one that did gut out which was simple enough he was able to savage some items for use in the bathroom but not much. The other time the initial day was going to Lowe?s for buying the materials ? they use home depot mostly so using Lowes took extra time for us to get some materials. We were able to get everything we needed but a few items because I forgot to get measurements. The second day the handyman came in and explained the issue with the bathroom and actually took his time measuring everything for the new design of the bathroom. He worked with Nestor to get additional materials for the sink. The day was mostly spent on putting up the drywall; sink measurements, installing new door, new base board for the bathroom floor and handling the first coat of drywall mud. When he left the second day the bathroom started looking further along from the day before. Third day came at fixing the door and applying another coat of drywall mud in the morning and evening. This was the one day that two guys were working as a team for the job. The handyman did the technical items while the second guy provided painting needs some small items like sealant around the doors, sink, and frame work. The second man ended up being the same guy to come in and finish up the painting which was done at very good quality. The guy even took time to install an extra door lock to the front door to help make it seal better. The bathroom really took shape this day and it was looking like a whole new bathroom. It was just in need of painting but due to the dry wall needing to set they couldn?t work the next day. That meant they couldn?t finish the job by the third day so we had to go to one more day which ended up being a half a day. The last day we had the painter come over and finish up the job for the painting which didn?t take long because he already applied a prime coat to the door. We kept the colors simple white door with grey on the walls. He used only 1 gallon of primer paint (some left over) 1 pint of white for the door, base boards, and ceiling (with nothing left over) and 1 gallon of our color for the walls which has some left over. I say the painter did a wonderful job with the paint and we got our paints worth used. During the last day though the light switch acted up but the painter couldn?t fix it so we had the handy man come back for an hour which includes time to get the part to fix it to getting it working again. Overall, we will be using them again for the future jobs ? we are planning to use them for our kitchen and our other bathroom. The best thing was that Jerry was easy to work with and so were Nestor and his crew. Whenever I called the main number around 9am and 5:30PM I usually got a person on the phone or someone returned (Jerry) my call within an hour. During the day was more challenging but I can understand that because they are out on the job working. The final product was more than acceptable for the wife and when she is happy I am happy too. The main thing to remember able working with S&J is that they work with you specially when you have a budget to work with. I wanted to Say thanks to Jerry and Nestor and to all the crew guys that came over to help get the job done and for Stacey booking the time slot for us. You will be hearing from us again soon.

They had been very busy the week I had called them but Dawn was able to schedule someone to come out and take a look at the house for an estimate and work began within 1 week after acceptance. During the repair work the crew had found some additional wood rot within the front door frame. Dawn contacted me in advance to advise and ask for permission to conduct the additional repairs and everything was completed within 1 day. I was very happy with the responsiveness and the quality of the work and would use them again.

JW Home Improvement
The repairs were done correctly and completely. The root cause of the leaking pipes was identified and the garbage disposal had to be replaced. The door frame repair looks like new. Took slightly longer to complete the work that was originally estimated, but it was worth it.

House Doctors of DC
We loved working with Kevin and his team! They were quickly responsive to our request for a bid, and patient as we made changes to our initial request. Kevin came out personally to discuss the work, to ensure he was clear about what we wanted. Bids were thorough and prompt. The crew arrived as promised, on time and ready to go. They finished the work ahead of schedule even though they hit a snag on one repair, due to the work of a previous contractor. When that required some new materials we were kept apprised of the change to the scope of work, which was minor. Howard, the supervisor on the job, was very helpful, pleasant and communicative with us. Everyone worked hard. Kevin did a final walk-through with us to be sure we were satisfied before we paid the balance of the bill. We are extremely happy with our experience and with the results! We will definitely reach out to Kevin for our future needs and have been recommending House Doctors to our neighbors.

Leal Remodeling-Painting & Handyman Services
Mr. Ferney's assistant made an appointment with me via email and Mr. Ferney came to inspect all the work I needed done. His assistant sent a quote and we set the work to be done several weeks after. It took a bit longer than I would have wanted to get it scheduled but it was worth it. Mr. Ferney was professional, courteous, accommodating and all around a great contractor. He did a wonderful job on the siding and my front door which wasn't easy to fix. I would definitely use him again!

Jim the Handyman
These guys are fantastic. I truly think they are the most reliable and honest people you can use in the Northern VA area - and as a new home owner, I've used quite a few, Basically, I had to call them to repair some damage that was likely done when I had carpeting installed on an old staircase, plus a few other odd jobs around the house. They showed up on time, gave me a very reasonable quote, and did all their work quickly a few days later. I wasn't even too worried about leaving them unsupervised. I highly recommend using them, and while I hope my house doesn't need it, I would absolutely use Jim the Handyman again in a heartbeat.
