Site review and estimate: Greg was on time and they provided an estimate sooner than promised. Site preparation: Knowing that we would need at least part of the yard for our dogs, Matt had a portion of the yard separated from the construction. He also had a temporary fence placed between the neighbors property and ours. Demo and excavation: Workers were punctual, professional and neat. Foundation and framing: Workers were punctual, professional and neat. Roofing: We had the entire roof was replaced. The roofers did show up a day earlier than expected. Though a bit of a scare for my wife who was in the shower when they got on the roof, the guys completed the roof in 1 day. They cleaned the yard and picked up as many nails as possible. I followed behind them and found some more nails but I feel they did a good job. Plumbing rough in: Workers were punctual, professional but left debris on the floor. They also placed the supply and discharge for the washer too high on the wall. This was later fix to our satisfaction. Electrical rough in: Workers were punctual, professional and neat. They did however, placed the outlets too high on the wall. This was later fix to our satisfaction. Mudroom drywall and painting: Drywall was hung well and Santos the painter was excellent. Screened in porch framing: Armando and his crew were professional, friendly and did a great job. Very detailed. Deck and screened in porch flooring: Excellent job. Can't say enough good things. Screened in porch painting: The first coat was excellent but when they came back to do some putting, caulking and painting, it was not Santos and this painter got paint on the flooring on the deck and the screened in porch. This was very upsetting as we had paid for the completion of the flooring and this painter came behind days later and made a mess. This cleaned up was completed much later in the job and remains one of the sore spots for us as we thought about the job for this review. Screened in porch electrical completion: These were not same electrons who did the rough in and I must say they were horrible and not professional at all. They damaged the b-board near every outlet and drilled through one panel which MW agreed to replace. We decide to not have it replaced as long as they could fix it to our satisfaction. We declined to replace it simply because we didn't think the panel could be replaced without causing further damaged and frustration. These electricians also did not cover the junction boxes under the house or in the screened in porch. They had no disregard for our safety. Again, this error was corrected much later in the job and remains one of the sore spots for us as we thought about the job for this review. House plumbing completion: Good. Tile in Mudroom: Excellent job. Cabinet and counter top in Mudroom: Excellent quality and installation was great. Finishing work and punch list: We did have a large punch list (about 80 items). Some were major but most were basic clean up that any job would have. General site cleanliness: I thought in general the site stayed neat but there were times it was a real mess. I would use MW again but I would be more specific about what my expectations are for the job. Matt, the project manager was great. He was professional and checked in each day the workers were on the job. In all, MW met our expectations and did it all within budget and the time frame we agreed on in the contract. After a little more than a year since our addition was completed, everything is still solid and looks great. We use the porch year round and the deck is great when the weather is reasonable. My initial review was a “B”, which was based on my opinion of how some steps of construction were completed. Though how you get there and how you finish is important, what really will matter in the long run is how long it will last. I truly believe that MW’s quality is second to none and that you can trust the quality of workmanship and materials you will receive if you go with this company.
