"We hired Cody Smith, owner of Wolf Creek Construction to install high end Luxury Vinyl Plank throughout our entire house, total of 1300 square feet. The installation turned out perfect and we are so pleased with the work Cody performed. Cody is extremely knowledgeable, fast and efficient, polite, friendly and highly professional. This was a 3 day job, and each day Cody showed up on time, worked continuously, communicated his plan and answered all our questions. Cody has strong attention to detail and he delivered a high quality, finished product at a reasonable price. We would highly recommend Cody Smith and Wolf Creek Construction for any of your home construction or repair projects. You won’t be disappointed!!!"

"Tyler waterproofed and insulated my basement walls, framed and installed tongue and groove planks on my basement family room, bedroom and bathroom. The detail and fit and finish right down to custom made crown molding and access panels to water valves seamlessly built into the woodwork was top notch craftsmanship. He also installed a custom built walk-in shower and mosaic tile door that is beautiful. I canâ t say enough or recommend someone more enthusiastically than I do Tyler. He is there when he says heâ ll be there and the level of craftsmanship and professionalism is unsurpassed. The price is more than fair and I often felt as if I was underpaying him and asking him to add on any extra services (like unforeseen plumbing) to ensure he was paid adequately."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Generally speaking, it is better to cut tile wet when using a fast-moving wet saw to reduce dust and chipping. However, tile can be cut dry when using just about any cutting tool. Dry cutting will result in a bigger mess and may increase the risk of chipping or cracking, but if you’re just making small cuts, dry cutting is a safe and viable option. Cutting dry also means you can apply tile grout sooner, so it’s better for rushed projects.

Yes, you can tile over existing tiles in a bathroom, but it is not always recommended. For this method to be successful, the original tile surface must be clean, flat, and free of damage such as cracks, unevenness, mold, or mildew. While tiling over existing tiles can save time and money, there are potential drawbacks. The new adhesive may not bond properly, and the process adds extra weight to the wall or floor. Additionally, the increased height of the surface could interfere with door clearances. For the best and most durable results, removing the old tiles before installing new ones is generally the better option.

A cement backer board is not needed for laying tile on concrete. Sometimes referred to as a cementitious backer unit, or CBU, backer board should be used if the subfloor is plywood or OSB. The backer board provides a base on which to install the tiles that isn’t as likely to be damaged by any accidental water seepage as natural materials would be.

Ideally, you should remove tile before installing hardwood floors, but there are good reasons not to. Removing stubborn tile can be a labor-intensive job that adds days to the project. The subfloor beneath the tiles could also be damaged during the process, meaning you’d have to repair the subfloor before installing the new hardwood floor.

Many homeowners have successfully retiled a bathroom themselves. It can be a challenging but rewarding process, but it’s best for someone who already has at least intermediate DIY skills.
