"Excellent work despite multiple challenges! Very polite, and sensitive to the concerns of my tenants (who insisted on being present the entire time). Also, this was an out-of-town job 100 miles from home, in a small town with very limited selection of materials available. Transformed an ugly and disturbingly moldy old rental-house tub/shower into a bright beautiful new master bath. Removed yukky old paneling and rotten drywall, killed all the mold, and installed proper drywall with nice new FRP wall panels and caulking. Good attention to detail, creative problem-solving, and most of all, they left things CLEAN. My tenants are happy again!"

My business is unique because I am an one man shop. I work one job at a time. I provide free estimates. I do not use subcontractors. Most of my work is custom and handmade. I work with my clients to create the designs they want. Prices vary depending on the job. I usually do my own installation.

Drywall questions, answered by experts

The best way to make long, straight cuts is to use a utility knife and a T-square to score the sheet, snap along the score, and then finish the cut by cutting through the paper on the opposite side with the utility knife. If you’re making small cuts, curved cuts, or cutouts for electrical boxes or light fixtures, you can use a manual jab saw to keep costs down, but an electric spiral saw or oscillating multi-tool will get the cleanest, fastest cuts possible.

Drywall insulation costs around $1,800, on average, but prices can range from $500 to $4,500, depending on a few different factors. The following things are important considerations to make when pricing out your insulation project:

  • Square footage of insulation

  • Type of insulation

  • Climate in your area and the insulation R-value required

  • Whether or not your walls are already finished

  • Accessibility of the area

  • Whether or not you need old insulation removed first

You can drywall over plaster, but there are some things to consider. First, installing drywall over plaster will increase the wall’s thickness. This could create challenges for window and door frames that no longer fit the wall’s thickness. You may also have to adjust power outlets so they are accessible. When done right, drywall can create a smooth, flat appearance, but it’s best when handled by professionals.

Cracks, holes, water damage, and dents from heavy equipment often require repair.

There shouldn’t be any gaps between your walls and ceiling. These can be fixed with joint compound but that is only a fix, and it’s much better if your drywall fits correctly in the first place. Sometimes gaps can appear if your foundation shifts significantly but if this is the case, you have a much bigger problem than patching drywall.
