"cooper was our installer. He was veryprofessional and did excellent work. The job he did looks great. What a great employe he is for bath fitter. Better than five star. The only problem I have is I ended up with a shower without a corner shelf or soap dish. This is the first shower I have seen with out these. Gary White"

"My fence fell down due to the high wind on 12/19/2025. I was lucky to find Jeff on Angi. Jeff replaced my old fence with a beautiful wooden one. He is a professional in his work. I am sure I will have him do more work for me."

"Alex was efficient, professional and friendly and arrived as soon as he could get here. We were having sewer trouble and he stayed to see that the problem was fixed and we were no longer having problems with the sewer, even though it was after dark before he packed up his tools. We would definitely recommend Cothren Plumbing and Construction for any of your construction or plumbing needs."

"Tyler waterproofed and insulated my basement walls, framed and installed tongue and groove planks on my basement family room, bedroom and bathroom. The detail and fit and finish right down to custom made crown molding and access panels to water valves seamlessly built into the woodwork was top notch craftsmanship. He also installed a custom built walk-in shower and mosaic tile door that is beautiful. I canâ t say enough or recommend someone more enthusiastically than I do Tyler. He is there when he says heâ ll be there and the level of craftsmanship and professionalism is unsurpassed. The price is more than fair and I often felt as if I was underpaying him and asking him to add on any extra services (like unforeseen plumbing) to ensure he was paid adequately."

Bathtub Replacement questions, answered by experts

The plumbing industry has standardized the sizes for bathtub drains. They are 1 1/2 inches wide to fit all standard bathtubs from 14 to 26 inches deep. The standard sizing is to ensure that the drain fits into the P trap, a special part of your piping that prevents sewer water from bubbling up into your home (yuck).

You can resurface or reglaze your bathtub, and it’s faster and less expensive than replacing a bathtub. Plus, replacing a bathtub is an extensive and intrusive process that requires wall repairs. Refinishing is an excellent option if the old one is in good working condition.

There are also options to install a bathtub liner over your existing tub. However, if you’re seeking a new bathtub with new features, you’ll likely want to replace your tub.

Of the two most common and affordable bathtub materials, acrylic is notably better. Though fiberglass is cheaper, it is also more prone to scratching, chipping, fading, and cracking. Acrylic holds up better to wear and tear, cleaning, and sun exposure; the slight cost increase is usually worth the increased longevity.

The average cost to convert a tub to a shower is around $3,000, but prices can range from $1,000 to as high as $15,000. A more typical range is between $1,200 and $8,000. The final cost depends on several factors, including the amount of plumbing work required, the size of the shower, and the type of materials and fixtures chosen. A prefabricated shower stall is a more budget-friendly option, while a custom shower with features like luxury tiles, unique tiling, smart technology, or accessibility features will be at the higher end of the cost spectrum.

If you love long soaks, appreciate spa-style decor, and don't mind the extra space, a Roman tub is a beautiful addition to your bathroom.
