"Jacob shows up. He returns text messages and phone calls. As a contract engineer, Iâ ve worked with a variety of contractorsâ ¦.and Timber and Nail is a unicorn in this business. It explains why theyâ re so busy, and why you may have to wait your turn in line to get your project completed. But youâ ll be glad that you did. The work is to code, and they take pride in their workmanship. Communication is open and honest. I had no surprises nor change orders. This form did not allow me to include all of the types of work that they completed for meâ ¦.but it included removing an old, unstable deck and building a new one to code.; removing ceiling tiles and replacing them with drywall, fixing a hole in the soffit, fixing downspouts, and replacing an exterior door. After all of that, I still need to hire them for more projects in my older house. When I need work done, theyâ re the first ones that I call."

"
We are very pleased with the work.  Jodie and his crew were professional and very polite.  He addressed any questions we had about the structure.  We were very impressed.  They worked in rain, cold, and it even snowed on the last day of the job.  They began the job sooner than we first thought they would be able. They finished the job when they said they would have it finished."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Applying plaster to a wall will usually cost between $2 and $10 per square foot for both the material and labor. The cost will vary based on the quality of the plaster you’re using and whether or not prep work is required before the work begins. Wall prep can add up to about 10% to your total costs. Plastering exterior walls can be more expensive in many cases because they are taller and require scaffolding and safety equipment.

While every home has its own unique needs, ceiling drywall installation typically follows a staggered or stepped pattern to enhance structural integrity and reduce the visibility of seams. Starting from one corner, sheets are placed perpendicular to the ceiling joists, with the ends of adjacent sheets meeting along the center of the joist. The next row begins with a half sheet, ensuring joints don't align vertically. This alternating pattern, combined with proper taping and mudding, creates a seamless appearance and strengthens the ceiling structure, minimizing the risk of cracks over time.

Yes, any parts of drywall that are wet or overly moist will need to be replaced. Drywall is intended to be dry (it’s in the name, after all.), as excess moisture can lead to mold and mildew and eventually corrode your home’s foundational building pieces. Do regular inspections in your home to make sure all your plumbing is intact and in good condition—this will go a long way toward preventing leaks.

You should do a little bit of sanding between adding coats of mud. Knock down any ridges or significantly imperfect areas through sanding, which should help you apply the next coat of mud smoothly. If your first coat of mud is pretty smooth after it dries, a quick sanding is all you’ll need. Don’t forget to wipe away any dust after each sanding process.

Some painters will repair minor drywall damage. For repair work of any kind, it’s a good idea to hire the professional required for the job. Many painters will have the materials on hand and can add them to the total cost. While you may save some money, there is a chance the work will be subpar compared to a professional who specializes in drywall.
