They must post their own positive reviews. They took my $65.00 fee and did nothing"

Both sealing and staining can help make your deck look better almost immediately. However, deck stain may not contain waterproofing components, leaving the surface vulnerable to moisture damage. To protect your deck from winter weather, apply a sealer or a stain-and-sealer combination product.

It’s important to make sure the wood on a new deck is properly seasoned. Seasoning a deck is simple: Once you build it (or have a pro do so), just leave it alone so it can acclimate to the environment. While oil-based paint is also durable, it's prone to fading,  making it not as good of an option if you live someplace with extremely high heat.
