"John and his worker, Ramy, did a great job with a complicated major renovation project that completely gutted two adjacent rooms (Master Bath and Laundry/Half Bath), rearranged the walls, plumbing, and wiring in order to create a beautiful and much more efficient space than what we had before. The project included pocket doors, barn doors, a shower, vanity, creating new closets, installing cabinets, removing a window and stacking a washer/dryer. We couldn't be happier with the work. The crew was very professional throughout the project and proactively contacted us to discuss issues that would inevitably come up regarding the design or just having to take care of sick kids. I would not hesitate to hire them again and highly recommend them for any remodeling projects."

"Kent is an excellent person and I would call him and his co-worker for any electrical work. He installed a standby power generator for me and did an outstanding job. During this COVID-19 period he and his employee wore gloves, masks, and booties when required to be inside our home. Can't say enough good about this company!"

Small jobs welcome

"I had used Worry Free Electric in the past and had very good service. I called James Costello again for some outlet relocations, new outlets, and new light fixtures installation/replacement. I was supplying these new light fixtures. I told James what I wanted to achieve, and where I wanted the new outlets and ceiling lighting fixtures located. He made some recommendations and suggestions, did exactly what I wanted and beyond with the addition of some three way switches for the lighting circuits. The whole experience was above my expectations. James Costello will be my first call for any future licensed Electrician project!"

"I am more than pleased with the service I received from this company. Nathan is by far a caring human being. When the big companies couldnâ t help me out, he was there to service My Generac and he has been there ever since whenever I need him. Iâ ve been using this company for at least the last four years. And will continue to gladly call him when needed."

Generator Install questions, answered by experts

Costs range from $500 to $2,500, depending on generator type and installation complexity.

Sizing a generator is a careful process that requires calculating the electrical load of your entire house. You have to take into account every device you want to use and their wattage requirements, plus the wattage needed to start them, and look for a generator that can safely run all that at around 80% capacity.

In more practical terms, a small home can run on a 10,000-watt generator (and if you only want to power a few key appliances, much less than that). A mid-sized home may need something between 15,000 and 22,000 watts. Larger homes require 25,000 watts or more.

While the rating will tell you how many watts the refrigerator needs at the peak of its cycle, it requires additional wattage to start. At the bare minimum, you’ll need a 1,500-watt generator to get the fridge up and running after a blackout. A 2,000-watt generator should be sufficient for most home refrigerators.

You can determine what size generator you need for a transfer switch by matching the switch to the largest outlet on your generator. Larger generators can power up to 10 circuits, while most 5,000-watt generators can provide power to six circuits. So, if your generator’s largest outlet is 30 amps, you’ll need a 30-amp transfer switch.

If you’re deciding between a solar battery versus a generator for the best backup power solution, you can take a few factors into consideration. Solar batteries are quiet while generators can be quite loud. Generators have a lower up-front cost, but they require fuel and ongoing maintenance while solar batteries are more expensive but don’t have many ongoing costs.
