"You should probably add 4-6 weeks to the expected delivery date if you expect to need the "enclosed" hardware. I received the blinds in the estimated time, but it came without the required hardware. I have made 4 calls (at least) over several weeks, but the hardware is nowhere in site. It is clear that SelectBlinds.com is a marketing company only has outsourced all production and fulfillment to third parties and evidently has a difficult time coordinating these type of customer service issue. Extremely frustrating that my blinds have been sitting in the floor for over a month and all I need is a few screws. Happy to go to Home Depot to get the screws, but SelectBlinds can't even tell me what sizes I need."

Both weather stripping and door sweeps work together to increase your home's energy efficiency. Weather stripping is installed on the sides and top of the door frame, while sweeps are installed on the bottom of the door. While different types of weather stripping keep out moisture and seal air leaks, sweeps can also prevent pests and sounds from entering the home.

This hack required some hand strength. First, bend the fork's tines. Next, slip the pointed ends into the door latch and close the door. Open the door to remove the fork and break off the fork's handle. Reinsert the fork's head into the door latch and close the door. Finally, slide the fork's handle through the tines, creating a horizontal barrier that prevents the door from opening inward.

Most of the time, the direction your door swings does matter. Your door’s swing is also called its handing, and it determines how your door opens. The layout of your home probably only gives your door enough room to hang and swing in one direction. On the other hand, it might not matter if your door can open freely in either direction without inconveniencing you and your household.

You can use wood, metal, or plastic as a door shim, but keep in mind that wood will rot easier than the other two materials. Your local hardware store should have at least one type in stock. Alternatively, you can trim a piece of cardboard to fit underneath your door hinge and work as a temporary, makeshift door shim.

Steel doors have a few primary disadvantages. They’re hard to customize since they can’t be cut to fit an opening; they’re cumbersome and thus difficult to install on your own; and they don’t have the same aesthetic appeal as wood doors. Finally, while they’re highly durable and secure, they are susceptible to dents, scratches, and rusting.
