"We called The Blind Guy for an estimate to replace our 8 window 20 yr old shades. He recommended a shade that he said would meet our needs including a power operated shade for our large window in the living room which would have needed 3 string pull shades. We were so impressed with him and product we did not bother with getting any other estimates. Installation and quality of the workmanship gets 5+stars. I called Philip over a year and half later asking if he could swap a room darkening shade from one bedroom to another. Within one hour of the request, he showed up and said no charge for this. Thank you, Philip, The Blind Guy for all you do. We highly recommend The Blind Guy! Dave and Kathy T"

"I highly recommend Life Support Property Solutions! I had some water damage in my basement late last week and was very concerned with the rainy forecast today. Jesse was able to get to my house in an impressively short amount of time, bringing a ladder to clean out my gutters and help prevent any further overflow. He was incredibly responsive and helpful and went above and beyond to help when I was stressed about my home. I really appreciate his willingness to shift his day around to make sure this was taken care of before the rain came. I would absolutely recommend Jesse and Life Support Property Solutions to anyone looking for someone reliable, compassionate, trustworthy, and willing to go the extra mile. I?m grateful for the help and will definitely keep Life Support Property Solutions in mind for future home projects!"

Been swinging a hammer since I was 18 years old. Coming up on 20 years in the industry. Have done it all from high end 8 million plus dollar builds to just installing a door for someone. I enjoy my craft and what I do

Window Treatments questions, answered by experts

Egress windows are typically required for basements with habitable space or living quarters. Not all basements or lower levels require egress windows. However, egress windows are required in homes with living spaces such as bedrooms and living rooms in a basement. The International Residential Code and International Building Code require sleeping rooms to have a specific size egress window. Check your local building codes to confirm the requirements in your area.

Whether or not it's worth it to install double-hung windows depends on several key factors. First, double-hung windows cost more than single-hung windows, so if you’re looking to lower costs, you might find it more worthwhile to choose single-hung windows. If you want the lowest maintenance requirements, though, double-hung windows are easier to clean.

Double-hung windows also offer better ventilation, making them a good option for bathrooms and kitchens. Single-hung windows have better energy efficiency than double-hung windows because they have only one moving part.

The best homemade cleaning solution for windows is one gallon of warm, distilled or bottled water mixed with five to ten drops of liquid dish soap. This is what professional window cleaners typically use when they make their cleaning solutions. Using bottled or distilled water will help avoid hard water stains after cleaning, and the soap will cut through grease, smudges, and debris on your glass.

If you live in a colder region, consider installing double- or triple-pane windows with low-E coatings, which can trap heat and keep your house warm. In hot areas, windows with reflective coatings and insulated frames help keep cooling costs down. If you experience a lot of extreme weather, then impact-resistant glass might be a worthwhile investment.

Soundproof windows can’t completely block all noises, but they will significantly reduce sound from the road, sky, or your neighborhood’s weekend activities. Choose a soundproof window with an STC rating of at least 45 to block bass tones or loud conversations. Laminated glass windows can reduce noise by 75%. You can also add noise-reducing curtains to further muffle loud noises.
