"I think they treated the wrong lawn. The note they sent me via text message referenced trees and shrubs in my yard, I have none. They also did not leave a yard marker showing they had been there. Otherwise, this would have been a 5 star review."

"My rock border was full of dirt and weeds. The guys took out the stones, cleaned them off on the driveway, put down new weed guard, then replaced the stones and added more to fill in. It looks like new! They also sawed down a couple of stumps and worked around my existing plants. Pleased with how it turned out!"

"Was the only one who contacted me out of a few other options, and was eager to help mow our lawn. He was a nice person, but a few things could have been a bit better. He was willing to come out right away to mow our lawn (which needed to be done), but couldn't come out when he said he was going to until a couple days later. By then we had already mowed our front yard, so he ended up just doing the back. We appreciated he lowered the cost at least to just doing the back yard. We discussed that we needed our lawn mowed every other week, so we thought he would stop by again to mow our lawn when the second week came by. He did not, and we tried contacting him that day but we never got an answer back. No idea what happened, but we may have to go with someone else. My wife is going to be getting surgeries later this year and I will need to be there to care for her, which is why we were looking to hire someone to mow our grass. But we need someone reliable, as we won't be able to ourselves."

Lawns questions, answered by experts

Branches, leaves, grass clippings, and landscaping debris are typically collected.

There are several ways to decompose yard waste quickly. The first step is to move all debris into a compost bin or pile. From there, microorganisms, bacteria, and insects will break down the yard waste into compost. To speed things up, shred the waste into smaller pieces, add live worms to the pile, or introduce nitrogen-rich compost accelerators like grass clippings, coffee grounds, and manure. Turn the compost over every few days. This process, called aerating, allows oxygen to get in and accelerate decomposition.

The growth of tall fescue grass often causes clumps of grass in your lawn. Avoid pulling up the clumps, as it won’t effectively remove them. Instead, dig out clumps and their roots when you notice them early in the growing season. Herbicides can also treat grass clumps, but they can also affect other plants you might not want to kill, so use them sparingly and always follow manufacturer instructions.

The best way to clean artificial turf is to use a stiff-bristled broom or rake to loosen up any large debris once a week. The process will also redistribute the infill material that keeps your turf blades standing up straight and evenly. For artificial turf maintenance, do not vacuum your turf or apply cleaning solutions. If you need to rinse the blades, spritz them with a light hose.

If you want to take the decomposition process into your hands to speed it up, water and sunlight are key. Of course, you can’t control sunlight yourself, but you can rake leaves into piles in sunny spots in your yard. In terms of using water, you can also moisten the decomposing leaves with water, whether by pouring some from a watering can from time to time or using a hose to moisten them.
