"Dean returned my call and I described the small tree I wanted removed. I also sent him pictures. He gave me a price and removed the tree the next day. He is very knowledgeable regarding the possibility of tree roots near pipes and removed the tree and roots quickly. He also cleaned up the area afterwards. Excellent communication, very professional and got the job done! I would definitely recommend him for tree removals!"

"Chase excelled in customer service. The job couldâ ve been done by anyone with the right equipment. What made the difference was his responsiveness to my questions and ability to explain things in an easy way. He came in on budget and called in extra resources to finish in a timely manner. "I requested 4 quotes through HomeAdvisor, and only two contacted me back. Jose from Brotherhood of Tree Workers was the second to do so, and was prompt. He showed up early for my free estimate, and quoted me a direct price, which was about half of the lower end of the range that the other company quoted me. On the day that they were scheduled to perform the service, they again arrived a little early to right on time, they got down to what they were hired to do, and they were cleaned up and done well before I expected them to be able to finish. When I spoke with Jose he was very polite and professional, they were able to come out the very next week after I accepted their quote, the trees and bushes are completely gone, and there was no mess to clean up in our yard or driveway. I was completely happy with the price and the service provided by Jose and his team, and very grateful for their help in getting rid of the bushes that I've always hated surrounding my house."

"Service was excellent. Ray contacted me the day I put in my request, he was able to give me an estimate that same day. We have three large white cedar trees that are planted too close together and adjacent to power lines. They had never been trimmed (except the tops by WPS) and are over 40 years old. Nature had started reclaiming the space around and under these trees. Ray was able to trim them to shape, remove all of the dead branches and clean up the bottom, he removed all of the debris for no extra charge. He also cut down a large buckthorn and removed a ton of weeds and other invasive plants and a bonus dead lilac. Ray is a great guy to work with, he’s polite, and involves you in the decision making process. He also made sure to blow out and clean up afterwards. I would definitely have him come back. I’m happy and my neighbors are happy too."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

A tree branch should start to form roots in about three months. It can take about a year for a tree branch to develop roots strong enough to go in the ground. For best results, start several branches because, no matter how closely you follow instructions, they won’t all form roots. Compost any that aren’t thriving.

In most cases, your neighbor is responsible for roots from their tree that cause damage to your property. If your pavement, the foundation of your home, or a fence is damaged by roots from a neighbor’s tree, you likely will have legal recourse for financial relief. While it’s better to notify your neighbor of any problems you notice as soon as they arise to avoid costly damage, there are some instances where filing a civil suit is your only recourse. Your homeowner’s insurance company might wish to do so on your behalf if you file a claim.

Generally, you’ll want to prune back the trunk by 1 to 2 feet each year to promote bushy growth. Doing so concentrates vegetative buds closer to the bottom of the tree, where you can easily harvest fruit. For side shoots that are a year old, leave at least six leaves.

Never remove more than 30% of a tree’s foliage during pruning—even if your tree is really overgrown. Removing this much foliage at a time could kill your tree.

The recovery time for pruning depends on how much you prune, the species of tree, and how well you care for it afterward. All trees grow new wood and often sprout additional branches after pruning. Ideally, trees should recover from normal pruning after one or two years. Heavy pruning or slow-growing trees may take several years to fully recover.

Bradford pear trees bloom in early spring with small white flowers. They typically flower for at least two weeks. In bloom, these trees often emit a foul-smelling odor that’s often compared to rotting fish. Bradford pear trees will sometimes bloom in the fall due to drought or other stress-inducing conditions.
