"I hired them a few years ago for a plaster job and it went well so I hired them recently for a plaster and paint job. The 2nd project did not go well..especially for the painting. Overall, the surfaces look cheap- nothing like the first job. I’ve also had to re-paint and clean splatter for at least 20 separate areas. Unfortunately, there are countless areas with bubbles and drips that I cannot fix. :( They also left about 5/6 full gigantic garbage bags in the room. If you want quality work done, I wouldn’t hire. If you want speedy & shoddy work done, then they’re great. He quoted me under 5k when he came to look at it, and it ended up being over 6k plus paint."

"Chris and his team were excellent to work with from the beginning. He had the most competitive quote out of 4 area painters total that I checked with. He was extremely flexible with timing as the painting project was pushed back a couple different times due to things going on with our builder’s timeline. Chris’ team came in and worked very efficiently and we were able to select any paint colors we wanted for the various rooms of the house and of course it included two coats! Chris stands by his work and makes sure you’re happy with everything he and his team did for you. With the building process and contractors coming and going, Chris and his team had no problems coming back for finishing touch ups to make sure we were 100% satisfied and complete with the job. Peel-and-stick wallpaper is more budget-friendly and easier to install, while traditional wallpaper lasts much longer and can be used in a wider variety of spaces.

Wallpaper lasts an average of around 15 years, but there is some variance. The type of wallpaper matters, as vinyl wallpaper tends to last the longest—sometimes 20 years or more—while a peel-and-stick wallpaper, which is the easiest to install for DIYers, will usually only last for around five years. Exposure to high humidity, smoke, and UV rays from sunlight can also limit the lifespan of your wallpaper, as can heavy traffic in the installation area.

Removing a wallpaper border requires the same process to remove full walls of wallpaper. Clear the area, spray down the surface with your hot water and vinegar solution or store-bought spray, wait 10 to 15 minutes, then scrape it off with a putty knife. Sometimes, border wallpaper lifts easier than larger sheets, so you can just peel it right off the wall by hand.

If you can already see the texture of the existing wallpaper through the layer of paint, then the texture could also come through the new layer of wallpaper. If that’s the aesthetic you want, then proceed. But if you want a smoother surface, you should either strip off the existing paint and wallpaper or hang a layer of liner paper before proceeding.
