Need a helping hand around the house or yard? Moving in or out and want things to sparkle and shine? I am available for: deep cleaning bathrooms, kitchens, appliances like ovens or refrigerators, recurrent cleaning of bathrooms, kitchens, and overall household, washing windows inside and outside, removal of cobwebs from places like basement or garage or wherever those industrious arachnids occupy, weeding gardens/patios/sidewalks, raking leaves, cleaning gardens in preparation for winter or summer, (willing to plant as well) light snow removal (driveways under 100 feet, patios/decks, and walkways) I have several years of professional cleaning experience through Service Master and Two Maids and a Mop, along with deep cleaning apartments after move out which included appliances and windows. I have some experience with professional landscaping and over a decade of personal experience with both. I operate independently and can use my own supplies and cleaners. Cleaners I use can be natural if requested, but typically will use Clorox for bathrooms and kitchens, and ammonia for windows. For ovens I use Easy Off and SOS pads. I will also use my own garden tools, rakes and shovels for yard work. I have a perfectionist's eye for detail and I work diligently and efficiently.

Lawns questions, answered by experts

Some grass types grow better than others on hard dirt. For example, hardy grass types like perennial ryegrass and Kentucky bluegrass will grow better on tough soil. Keep in mind that you should still consider your area’s climate when deciding on a grass type.

Yes, you can overwater your grass. Depending on your climate, it could be easier than you think. While water is an essential element for lawn growth, too much of it can actually damage its roots, leading to rot and other damage.

Whether your drip irrigation system leaks, it’s been a rainy summer, or you use the sprinkler too often, overwatering your lawn can drive up your water bill and impact the longevity of your lawn.

The easiest way to rough up soil to accept grass seed and provide the best opportunity for its growth is to make several passes over the area with a garden tiller and rake away the loosened vegetation and debris. However, in some cases, very hard ground may require using a shovel or pick to break up pieces into smaller chunks that the tiller can handle more easily.

When you don’t aerate your lawn, the soil will become more compact over time. This limits how much water can soak in to reach the roots of your grass, and it keeps oxygen and carbon dioxide from the plant roots. This can limit grass growth, which may sound great for limiting mowing, but it also leads to a lawn full of grass that looks dull and sparse. Eventually, compacted soil can weaken grass, while also making it more vulnerable to pests, diseases, and erosion and even causing it to die off.

Break up hard dirt in your yard with popular methods such as core aeration or manual aeration with a spade, mini excavator, or pitchfork. You can also alter your soil to keep it from compacting in the future. Adding compost, groundcover plants, or aeration granules—preferably made of organic materials—can also soften your ground and encourage water saturation.
