we are a electrical contractor located in new richmond WI. We have been in business for 28 years. The number of employees varies from 10-25 depending on amount of jobs. We do anything from a 15 minute service call to new schools and hospitals. Service calls are pay at the time of service and prices vary depending on job and location. We always have offered free estimates. We WILL answer the phone during normal business hours and can be reached for emergency service by following the directions on our answering machine.

Energy Efficiency Auditing questions, answered by experts

A good SEER rating is between 15 and 20. However, if you want the best possible efficiency, look for HVAC units with a SEER rating higher than 21. Keep in mind that the SEER rating doesn’t mean that the unit will reach that efficiency all the time, but it does have the capacity to operate at that high of an efficiency level.

Depending on the level of audit you choose, a home energy audit will at least include a walk-through of the home to determine visible inefficiencies, but may include testing and a highly detailed inspection and report laying out the home’s inefficiencies and providing recommendations to fix those issues. The size and use frequency affect how much electricity it uses. Sump pumps average one-third to one horsepower (hp) motors. One hp is equal to 745.7 watts. Watts multiplied by the time your pump is running divided by 1,000 equals your average kWh. Multiply kWh by your average cost of electricity. In areas with high rain or a marsh basin, the average cost can be as high as $15-$25 a month.

You can determine what size generator you need by listing the various appliances it will power during an outage. Write down the start-up watt usage, and then add them all together. 

A 7,500-watt generator will run your refrigerator, freezer, well pump, and lighting circuits without a problem. However, you’ll need an extra 3,000 to 4,500 watts to run your water heater and another 5,000 to 25,000 watts to run your electric furnace. In these instances, a whole-home generator is your best bet for running your critical equipment.
