There are sections of my driveway where nearly all of the seal coating came off in less than 9 months, so I am going to have to re-do the job myself. This is not what I had in mind when I paid over $1,100 (a fair price, if it would have lasted longer). I understand that the work isn't covered anymore, as I didn't report it until the thaw revealed so much was missing, and I'm not upset with Merit or their staff. Using a drill to bore holes in the stump's center speeds up the process, whatever method you use. If you don’t have a drill, you can still chainsaw or chisel the stump to make it hollow; it will just take more elbow grease and time. Steer clear of burning the stump to hollow it if you can’t drill some holes in it first. Otherwise, getting it to light, stay lit, and burn right through will be a challenge.
