"I was on the market for a security system and this one seemed easy enough to install.......went through the process and some of the window sensors were not working. I called Customer Support who was very friendly and we went through the entire process again...this time other window sensors did not work. This went on for a week or so...then the door senors stopped working....than the motion sensor stopped working...at no time in over a month did I have a fully operational security system. As I was about to return the system I was told they have "new" sensors and they just realized they received a bad batch and are working with another company.....Gave it a try....and same issue returned....some sensors worked....some didn't. I finally returned the system and stopped getting emails.....only to find that they were still billing my credit card even after I returned the equipment. Very nice people and very understanding.....unfortunately their product is not up to par. While we do have a large home, it's an open concept and the sensors that weren't working were no more than 15ft away from the base. The previous owners of my house had a wireless system with no issues at all.....I'm going to be using that company going forward."

Ideally, you should wait out the storm in a room that doesn’t have any windows. Unfortunately, there’s no definitive answer to this question, but the wind rating of your shingles will give you a good idea of what wind speeds can damage your roof. If you’re concerned about damage, inspect your roof following windy conditions to look for signs of wind damage to your shingles. When in doubt, consider hiring a professional who fixes roofs to carry out an expert inspection. Remember that hurricanes, tropical storms, and tornadoes are likely to cause the most damage, but even severe thunderstorms can bring winds that compromise your roofing system.

Use plywood that is at least a half-inch thick to protect your windows during hurricane season. You can opt for 5/8-inch or 3/4-inch plywood for greater protection if you’re concerned about blown debris or have trees right outside your windows. Thinner plywood is more affordable, but it won’t protect your windows as well.

You’ll be in the best position to negotiate a hail damage claim if you thoroughly document the damage the hail caused to your property, file a claim immediately, and seek legal advice. It’s a good idea to keep images of your non-damaged property; that way, you have something to compare the damage to. As with many things, talking with a legal representative is the best way to make sure your interests are protected.
