"After getting multiple outrageously expensive quotes for gutter guards from franchised vendors using high-pressure sales tactics, it was a breath of fresh air to connect with Tim from TC Aluminum. Tim was the only person we talked to that offered different options to meet what we could afford and gave us honest advice. Our gutters were in bad shape and his recommendation was to install new gutters this year and then think about gutter guards next year. No one else really spent much time at all examining the condition our gutters were in and just wanted to sell us guards (at a premium prices, of course). Tim was thorough in evaluating and explaining everything at every step and helped us arrive at a solution that we could afford. Last, but certainly not least, his prices are extremely reasonable…we're talking thousands of $ less than even the lowest 'franchise' quote we received. I highly recommend TC Aluminum and will absolutely be contacting them when we're ready to purchase gutter guards."

"Great experience from start to finish! The gutter guard installation was quick, professional, and done right. The crew showed up on time, explained everything clearly, and made sure everything was cleaned up before they left. The new gutter guards look great, and I’m very happy with the quality of the work. Gutter Repair and Replacement questions, answered by experts

Unless you've chosen to install underground downspouts, your gutter downspouts shouldn't touch the ground. If they come into contact with the soil or pavement next to your home, rainwater can back up into them during a storm, preventing them from doing their job effectively. Instead, aim to have your downspouts end about 12 inches from the ground.

Icicles don't necessarily mean your gutters are clogged or bad, but they can indicate an underlying issue. While clogged gutters can cause icicles to form, the problem could also be an ice dam on your roof from poor insulation. In that case, melting snow can refreeze in the gutter even without a clog. Regardless of the cause, the weight of the ice can damage your gutters or even rip them completely off the house. If you are unsure of the underlying problem, it's best to call a roofing company to assess the issue and implement a permanent solution.

When it comes to which gutter material is better, the choice really boils down to what you're looking for in a gutter system. If saving money is the most important factor, then your best option is to go for aluminum gutters. If longevity and durability are more important to you, then copper gutters could be the best fit. If you want to customize the color of your gutters, aluminum takes the cake, but if you're looking for a more natural appearance, copper might be a better choice.

Most homes will sustain water damage without gutters. When a home doesn't have gutters, water that runs off the roof will splash down to the ground to create foundation damage, rotting trim, rotting fascia, and soil erosion. A broken or compromised gutter system can be just as damaging as having no gutters. That's why it's essential to talk to roofing pros about how to fix gutters pulling away from house as soon as you notice an issue.

The best way to seal gutters is with a combination of waterproof roofing cement and silicone gutter sealant. This powerful duo works to prevent water from escaping through holes and cracks while allowing for breathability. While you can use polyurethane sealants, silicone sealants tend to be more flexible when it comes to climate. Silicone is UV-resistant and bonds well to many surfaces. However, polyurethane sealant bonds better with wood.
