"The good: They were polite, neat, and pretty fast in getting to our home for service. They did the demo and got the dryers going promptly, which probably saved the carpeting - half of the carpet pad was shot and removed. I thought the price had included getting the new padding and reinstalling it after the stuff was dry. The area was pretty small & I didn't think it was going to be a major $ matter to get the carpet reinstalled after the dry - out. I chose not to go through my homeowner's policy, as I have a high deductible and this was a fairly small job. The not so good: Although I appreciate their getting the work done, I feel a little misled. They did do demolition and drying out from flooding, but, they told me later, they do not do reinstallation of anything. There was a delay on their part to pick up the dryers, so, I think we ended up paying extra rental fees for lots of dryers that were running for quite a few extra days. They had said they would pick them up on a Thursday, but, they couldnt get here until Monday of the next week. I got other contractors to quote the drywall, painting and carpet work. Strangely, when they came to pick up the dryers, they offered to do the rebuild work the next day - for an additional fee that was never quoted. It was all kind of awkward. When I told them that I thought their original quote had included replacing the carpet pad, I was told that that was a conversation I had with their boss, not them. I never met their boss, just talked to him on the phone. It was sort of like I was dealing with two different companies. Anyway, it did all get squared away, but, when I calculated the hours of time spent on the work, the effective hourly rate was pretty high. I would just warn any others to make clear what is, and is not, included in the quoted work. I have no issues with the work that was done, and, I think they were very professional and careful.

"Overall very well! Sean was personable, punctual, and very efficient. I would certainly recommend him. Only minor issue was one cabinet door rubbed against the frame when closed due to multiple layers of thick paint. Sean warned us not to close the door for two days to let the paint dry to try and avoid chipping, but it still chipped anyway when we closed it a couple days later, so we just sanded it down and plan to touch up the frame. Other than that everything looks great."
"Well, the first time the replacement was ordered it was the wrong one, which of course, delayed the installation a week. When it was finally installed I had to pay an additional $850 for code upgrades. This I was not informed of by Home Shield. Then we noticed that there was water on the garage floor and found that the pipe coming in from the wall was leaking at the wall so had to call the plumbing company back out to fix it. They first tried to say it was not their fault but since there wasn't a leak before they installed they did fix it. I have used Home Shield a few times before and never had a problem. Some of the companies they use are not the best so you have to research them before you commit. I have found HS service to be good if you do your homework. At the end of the day I was without hot water for almost 3 weeks but it was do to the plumbing company they sent out."

The cost to texture drywall depends on whether you want to do the work yourself or hire a professional. The cost of the drywall mud is far lower than labor costs for applying it. The labor cost to spray drywall compound onto a wall is between $0.80 and $1.50 per square foot, while you’ll pay between $1.50 and $2 per square foot for the labor to apply the texture by hand.
Most repairs take 1-3 days, depending on drying times for joint compound and paint touch-ups.
Regular dusting, occasional repainting, and avoiding harsh scrubbing preserve the finish.
When choosing materials for finishing basement walls, consider factors such as moisture resistance, durability, and fire resistance. Opt for materials specifically designed for basement environments, like moisture-resistant drywall or cement board. Insulation with vapor barriers can help regulate temperature and prevent condensation. Consider using mold-resistant paints or coatings.
Research and consult with experts to select materials that are suitable for your specific basement conditions and intended use. Prioritize quality and compatibility to achieve long-lasting and aesthetically pleasing results.
It’s always better to follow proven drywall repair tips and fix the seams that look bad. However, if you simply want to make them less noticeable until you have time to fix them, you can use paint. A darker color of paint makes bad drywall tape seams less noticeable than light-colored paint. Matte paint hides bad seams better than glossy paint does, too.
