"Krispy Clean did a wonderful job cleaning my carpets and in a very timely manner. The staff was friendly and responsive. My only warning would be: When they give you a quote on the phone it may not be the same as when they arrive and measure. I have wool carpet and there was a significant difference in pricing, almost double. I had taken the day off to accommodate the carpet cleaning so I did proceed. The carpets look great, but I think I paid too much."

For persistent odors, mix 1 cup of baking soda with 4 cups of water and spray it evenly over your rug. Let the mixture dry, and then vacuum the rug thoroughly. You can also use a commercial rug deodorizer, but make sure you match the product to your rug material to avoid damage.

With a thorough cleaning, the smell of pet pee may dissipate within about 15 minutes, although in many cases, it may take several days to stop smelling after cleaning up the stain. If you leave a urine spot untreated, it may take up to five years to stop smelling on its own.

To remove pet urine stains and odors from a microfiber couch, first blot the area to absorb as much liquid as possible. Then, generously cover the spot with baking soda and let it sit for a few hours to absorb the odor before vacuuming it up.

For cleaning the stain itself, you can use a commercial urine stain and odor removal spray—be sure to follow the product's instructions.

Alternatively, you can use a DIY solution based on your couch's cleaning code:

  • For 'S' code couches: Lightly spritz the stain with rubbing alcohol and gently scrub with a microfiber cloth.

  • For 'W' or 'S-W' code couches: Use a mixture of one cup of vinegar and one cup of rubbing alcohol, spritzing and scrubbing the area gently.

Vinegar is acidic and makes a great cleaning agent for many items throughout the house, including some upholstery. It should not be used for any upholstery with the code S or X. It can be used for W labels. To use a vinegar solution, mix equal parts water and vinegar and blot the stain using a gentle circular motion with a clean microfibre cloth and then allow to dry completely. As with any DIY solution, test a small and inconspicuous section first.
