"Dale Painting was OUTSTANDING! I'd hire them again in a millisecond. They prepared a highly detailed bid that addressed all of my issues and put me at ease. Their price was lower than 5 of 6 companies I had bid on the job. They expertly helped me pick out the final colors that made feel comfortable going forward. They emptied all kitchen cabinets and removed many wall hangings and put them back exactly where they came from! And last but not least the finished painting job of all walls and ceilings looked superb. Excellent paint coverage, perfectly straight lines when abutting the ceiling or cabinets...no overspill. Painted vinyl siding can last 10 years or longer. To ensure long-lasting results, be sure to use vinyl-friendly paint as well as proper preparation and application techniques. Note that if you live in a harsher climate with frequent storms or excessive heat, for example, your vinyl siding paint job may not last as long.

You can remove your gutters before painting, but it's rarely required. It can be easier to paint gutters on the ground once you or a pro have removed them, but replacing them afterward can be challenging. In these cases, removing gutters may be impractical. Make your decision based on your comfort level and abilities.

You can test to see if your mist coat has worked by using masking tape after the drying period. Apply masking tape to an inconspicuous area of the wall after the mist coat has had at least 24 hours to dry. Then, peel off the tape. It should come up clear, with no paint residue. If it does have paint residue, you may need to remove the mist coat and try coating the plaster again with a different ratio of paint and water.

If you have a can or two of paint that's past its prime, replacing it shouldn't be too expensive. A gallon of paint costs an average of $25. You may pay more if you want a superior quality paint or if you choose oil-based paint instead of latex or acrylic. 

Buying in bulk can help you save, provided you use all the paint you purchase. For example, a 5-gallon bucket of paint tends to cost less per gallon than a pint or quart-sized can.

You can calculate a painting charge by starting with the square footage of the area you painted. If you painted one room that’s 11x32 feet (132 square feet), charging $5 per square foot would get you $660 in labor costs (132x5). You may also choose to charge extra for intricate work (such as baseboards or crown molding) or painting jobs done in complex locations. Then, you’ll need to charge for the materials used, including primer and paint, and tools like brushes, drop cloths, and ladders.
