"Terrible. $3500 Unit broke after 2 summers. Company gave us paperwork that stated 5 years parts & 5 years service warranty. They also wrote it in sticker on unit. They refused to honor their own writing. They were incredibly unprofessional and untrustworthy. Charged me $175 to come out and look at unit and not be able to diagnose the problem. After that appointment they showed up on my doorstep un announced. No problem selling faulty equipment and they have no remorse."

The EPA broadly defines hazardous waste as any waste that could pose a danger to humans or the environment. Since DIY asbestos removal isn’t the best option to save money, there are other steps that you can take to help cut costs when dealing with this project. After speaking with your asbestos removal expert, discuss if encapsulation is an option. If it is, you can save between 15% to 25% on overall project costs over demolition and disposal. In addition, when speaking with your professional, discuss if there are any tax credits available for your removal project. Finally, check with your homeowner’s insurance to see if any removal costs might be covered. However, be aware that this is usually only applicable if the asbestos is due to a covered incident, like a tree falling into your roof.  

Asbestos-containing materials, like duct wrap, should be encapsulated using a sealant specifically formulated for asbestos. These sealants work to bind with asbestos fibers and help further neutralize them as a health risk. Whenever you’re working near asbestos-containing materials, be sure to keep safety as a top priority and wear a P-100-rated respirator as well as protective clothing.
