Homemade Design (HMD) is America's leading online interior design service that provides a dedicated interior designer to work closely with you, to design and decorate your home for one extremely affordable fixed fee per room based on services required. \nWorking with your HMD interior designer is like having an interior designer best friend who evaluates your existing space, studies images of rooms you love, understands your budget constraints and explores the functional considerations that fit your lifestyle. HMD is the only flat-fee virtual consulting service that allows collaboration at multiple points in the process with our client. We help our clients navigate the design process by breaking it down into a linear process. First we analyze their likes and dislikes in terms of style and color, navigate budget vs. quality challenges and analyze the function of the room. Next we help you choose the major pieces in the room that will determine style and the overall color palette, and then we specify products and sources that fit within those parameters.\nThe design process is not universal to every design firm (or TV show.) Please call or email – we’d love to chat about your project and how we anticipate working with you to create your dream home!

Paying to reupholster a piece of furniture means you want to hire the right upholstery service, especially for a piece that’s expensive or carries a lot of sentimental value. In your search for the right upholstery company, be sure to:
Ask around to see if friends or family know of any upholsterers
Find reviews of the company or individual
Look at the photo gallery of their work to see if they work on furniture like yours and if you like their work
Check qualifications and references
Ask the upholstery service if they work on furniture like yours, what their schedule looks like, how they handle payments, and how long the job will take
The average cost to reupholster a piece of furniture is around $720, with most projects falling in the $380 to $1,150 range. The final price can vary significantly based on several factors. These include the size and complexity of the furniture, the cost of the new fabric (which typically ranges from $50 to $70 per yard), and hourly labor rates (often $40 to $100 per hour). Additional factors that influence the price are the piece's current condition, its age, whether it needs other repairs, the number of pieces being reupholstered, and your geographic location.
The best way to test the quality of a leather couch is to put your hands on it. If the upholstery is soft and warm, that’s a good indication that the quality is higher. It should also smell like traditional leather. If it smells like chemicals, you’re probably dealing with low-grade leather.
Interior and exterior door openings are typically 80 inches high, with openings 29¼ inches wide for interior doors and 35 inches wide for exterior doors. If your couch is smaller than these measurements, it should fit through the door frame.
