"After another installer didn't show up for a couple months we reached out to Cesar and Top Bros. He was knowledgeable, quick response and had somebody out measuring within three days. Two days later we had our beautiful island countertop. Very thankful!"

Small jobs welcome

"Very professional start to finish. Received a quick detailed estimate, and scheduling and service were also very promptà ¢à  à ¦speedy in fact. Our countertops look fabulous, exceeding expectations. Ità ¢à  à  s difficult to find someone to do this work, and I had my doubts about using a company I found on the internet. But we are so glad we took the chance on Surface Link because they did a perfect job. It is Hard to find a contractor we can say that about todayà ¢à  à ¦. We are often disappointed. Not with this company. Or this technician (Steve ) who is a pro at this. Time will tell, but as of today, we are thrilled."

"Exceedingly well -- work was done very well, and Curt was able to get the job completed more quickly than expected. As he noticed other small things, he asked if I would like them to do them (like powerwashing my porch.) It's not always easy finding people who will work on a tall house. My house definitely looks much better than before, and I will use Curt for other projects."

"A young man came to our door one day to tell us about The Window Store and asked if we would like a quote.  The Window Store is expanding to the Milwaukee area and now has a store in New Berlin, WI.  That is the store we dealt with. My wife made an appointment to have someone come and give us a quote.  The salesman was punctual, friendly, and professional.  He explained the features and benefits of their preferred replacement window, along with demonstrating their energy efficiency.  He explained that they offered other brands of windows as well, but that these were the most durable (50 year warranty) and energy efficient at the best price.

The windows were just what we were looking for, so we had him give us a quote on 8 windows which would replace all the windows in the front rooms of our house. The price seemed reasonable for a high quality window. We also received a discount for agreeing to do certain things on a list to help them promote The Window Store (writing this review was NOT one of them). For example, letting them put a sign in our yard, take before and after pictures that they could show to future customers, send out a postcard with pictures of our house to people in our area (things like that).

The salesman explained that it would take a few weeks for them to build the custom windows and that they would call to set a date to come and replace them. We did not feel that the salesman was "pushy" or "high pressure" at all.  He was very friendly and just presented the information and answered all of our questions.  We were very comfortable with the salesman and with the transaction.

After a few weeks they called to set a date, and (of course) it was raining that morning.  They called and explained that it is better not to do this in a pouring rain, so that if it didn't stop before noon, they would come on a different day.
This is the only reason I did not give them an "A" for communication.  The rain did stop at around 10:30 AM and they did not call or show up that day. My wife made arrangements to be home that morning, and stayed home thinking they might come since the rain had stopped. But with this one exception, the communication throughout the process met or exceeded our expectations.
They did come the next day, however, and replaced all 8 windows.  We felt the work was very well done, the workers were friendly and explained things well, and the work was completed that afternoon.  They also cleaned up everything very well.  We were very impressed with the quality of work and the professionalism of the workers.

We also are very happy with our new windows and plan on calling again when we can afford to replace more of them.

Countertops and Backsplashes questions, answered by experts

You can cut countertops without chipping by using your saw correctly and having a new fine-toothed blade. You can also put masking tape on the front of the countertop material across the cut line and cut from front to back. However, it is very hard to cut countertops without chipping them, especially if they are made of stone or more fragile materials like laminate. The best advice is to know how to use the equipment, use the correct cutting method for the material, cut from back to front, move slowly, and practice on scrap material first.

If you want your butcher countertops to last the typical 20 years, you should seal them monthly. Most homeowners use either oil or polyurethane, which helps repel water from the porous material. Keep in mind that if your countertops are in a kitchen, you’ll want to use a food-grade sealant. Tung oil, mineral oil, and beeswax are all popular options.

No, in most cases, you do not have to remove your countertops to reface cabinets. Since refacing primarily involves updating the doors, drawer fronts, and exterior surfaces, your existing countertops can usually stay right where they are, making the process quicker and less disruptive. However, if your counters prevent the access needed to remove doors and drawers, they may need to be temporarily removed. It's best to consult with a professional cabinet contractor to assess your specific kitchen layout during an estimate.

Before making any big plans, climb up a step ladder and closely examine the top of your cabinets. You’ll get to see what sort of clean-up work needs to be done, but you can also check for any unexpected obstacles. Sometimes this space holds electrical boxes, wiring, or even plumbing components. Those will affect plans to install a new layer of cabinets or shelves.

No, you should not put a hot pan or pot directly on a quartz countertop. While quartz is generally heat-resistant, the resin binders used in its manufacturing are sensitive to extreme heat. Placing a hot pan on the surface can damage the resin, leading to discoloration or other cosmetic issues. If the heat exceeds 150 degrees Fahrenheit, it can cause permanent damage, such as burns or even cracking. To protect your countertop, always use trivets or hot pads.
