"I really enjoyed working with this company. The estimator was polite and knowledgeable and efficient with communication. The installer was friendly and in a good mood even though the old gutter guards were difficult to remove. He straightened and correctly angled the existing gutters before installing new guards. When done the installer showed me the photos of the work he had done so I didn?t need to climb the ladder to inspect the work. I recommend this company. BK"

"Williams Roofing Company and Brad Williams the owner are the absolute best. They installed an shingled roof on my two sided townhouse, the added family/screen room and my 3 1/2 car garage and did an excellent job. Brad also hired a chimney man to completely rebuild my chimney from scratch and a gutter man to install new gutters and downspouts on the house and garage. Cleanup was great, the job was perfect and the crew was knowledgable, friendly and did a great job. I initially interviewed 10 total contractors and kept good notes and detailed price comparisons on all. Brad wasn't the most expensive but he also wasn't the least expensive either. It boiled down to a final two and I'm so glad we chose Brad to do the job. Would hire again in a heartbeat!"

"Exterior Pros did a complete tear down and replacement of my roof. The process leading up to the job was very straightforward. The team was exceptionally responsive to any questions that I had come up. They articulated my options very well. In my situation, my home owners insurance was involved. Exterior Pros helped me navigate through working with them. The completion of the work was pretty smooth. They were in and out in two days. They handled the cleanup."

Gutter Repair and Replacement questions, answered by experts

DIY is possible for minor leaks or realignments. Professional services handle complex issues like sagging or joint repairs.

Calcium chloride does not do significant damage to gutters when used properly and in moderate amounts. If you use too much too frequently, it could eventually cause corrosion in your gutters. Rock salt will harm your gutters, though.

The most common problem with gutters is clogging from debris like leaves, blossoms, and seeds from surrounding trees. This debris can block downspouts, leading to improper drainage and water overflow.

Other common issues include:

  • Leaks and holes, which can often be repaired with gutter sealant or caulk.

  • Rust, sagging, or detachment from the roofline.

  • Damage from strong storms.

  • Improperly pitched gutters that don't drain correctly.

Regular cleaning in the spring and fall is the best way to prevent most of these problems. You may need to clean them more often during periods of heavy leaf fall.

Gutter repairs typically cost between $150 and $600. The final price is influenced by several factors, including the extent of the damage, the gutter material type, the accessibility of the damaged area, and the amount of labor required for the fix.

Buried downspouts can freeze during cold weather as cold water runs through them. If you’ve discovered your downspouts are frozen, you can carefully pour hot water down the top of the downspout to defrost them. If that doesn’t work, you may need to dig your downspout back up. Avoid trying to break the ice from the exterior using a hammer as this can cause cracks and damage to your downspout.

To avoid freezing the future, consider adding a heating cable to the exterior, which can adjust heat based on the surrounding temperature.
