Our moving process was a complicated one involving two stages over a period of months, having the pickup done without our being on site, and the movers having to deal with boxes and bins we'd packed ourselves. At every stage, we were able to easily communicate with the Roadrunner people to get answers to questions and make arrangements. They were very responsive, good-humored, and flexible, and they seemed to do their best to accommodate our schedule and circumstances. We did have a bit of breakage, not a lot (though not of anything we'd packed ourselves), but of loose pieces such as a standing mirror, a flagpole, and a couple of other items that probably didn't have enough padding or securing and so shifted during the long drive. There was a $420 charge for materials that we didn't think to ask about immediately, no doubt for the three quilted moving blankets, a number of heavy wardrobe boxes, and perhaps the packing the movers did before loading, and we felt this was probably reasonable charge. We had to wait a week longer than we'd hoped for delivery due to conflicts with their schedule, but this was manageable for us. And the unloaders didn't stack our many boxes, bins, and loose goods on the pallets we asked them to use, instead putting them directly on the concrete shop floor, but since I wasn't standing by supervising, we think that that miscommunication should be chalked up to the fact that, inevitably, a few such things do happen during every move, regardless of the care and experience of everyone involved. By and large ours went very well. We feel confident of Roadrunner's competence and integrity, and in a business like this one, that is critical. They are a small company that has competed successfully in a business where hidden charges and other unethical practices are rampant, and have shown that treating people fairly and doing honest work can still be a successful business strategy. As a result, we feel comfortable recommending them highly and wouldn't hesitate to work with them should we move again. The job was bid. Rather than use a gas powered post hole digger the two workers dug by the holes by hand (which seemed absurd and took lots longer). The workers usually showed up at 10 and left about 3:30. The job took about 10 ten days to complete. The bid was based on a fence to match an existing fence of treated posts and rails. The rails used were cedar not treated. When the company owner was called on this he said his supplier did not offer treated rails. Had we not called the owner the fence would have not turned out to our liking.
As it were the fence boards are now on the inside of the posts/rails rather than the outside. As the boards were being put up a worker told me that because of the uneven ground the fence top would be 'notched' where some boards would be higher than others. I told him that he would have to cut the boards so that the top would be even. Bottom line: the end product was okay but we had to continually monitor in order to have an acceptable result.
An update: It was determined that the fence was build 30' inside our property line. When confronted NW Fence owner flew into a rage and said it was not his problem. Nearly one year later and with a court date approaching NW Fence and his attorney settled for a dollar amount and the complete removal of the fence. The agreement was to fill the post holes with dirt. I noticed the workers putting concrete back into the holes. When I attempted to advise the worker that was not acceptable he continued until I was nearly in his face. 1/2 of the post holes were found to contain concrete chunks. NW Fence was to come on this last Saturday to remove the concrete and fill the holes. At the appointed time we found that the concrete had already been removed. NW Fence and their attorney stated that they did not remove the concrete! I guess there must be a good elf in the neighborhood. At any rate the bottom line is that the fence is gone and the holes filled with dirt.
Let me be very clear: DO NOT HIRE NW FENCE FOR ANY REASON.

FAQs for concrete disposal projects in Royal City, WA
The kinds of items or materials accepted will vary by hauling company. Some companies will not handle hazardous waste, but hiring ones that do will cost from $5 to $100 or more, depending on what type and quantity of material.
Most companies will haul items such as:
Construction and remodeling waste: $100–$600
Appliances: $50–$600
Furniture: $50–$400
Electronics: $60–$200
Yard waste: $70–$500
The cost to hire a professional junk hauling service ranges from $60 to $600, averaging about $270. Your final price is determined by the type of junk, amount of junk, the distance to the dumpsite, and the equipment required to move and haul your items or materials. Keep in mind that construction junk removal is more expensive than hauling household items, so expect to pay $800 for removing large piles of debris.
Concrete repair costs range anywhere from about $0.10 to $0.15 per linear foot to fill minor cracks, to about $6 to $14 per square foot to replace damaged concrete slabs. Repair costs vary widely depending on the size and type of work needed. For example, replacing 100 square feet of driveway will cost between $600 to $1,400, on average.
Depending on the cost to repair your driveway, it may be more cost effective to tear out and replace it with a new concrete driveway. The cost to repave a driveway ranges between $1,400 and $12,100, including removal of the old concrete. Contact a reputable concrete contractor for advice and an estimate. They may have a good reason for going with repairs or replacement after assessing your driveway. You may also have the option to resurface your driveway or pave over it without taking out the existing one.
Concrete contractors typically charge anywhere from $6 to $14 per square foot. Cost factors include job size, site prep, base material, accessibility, your location, concrete finish, and concrete thickness. Removal of existing concrete, asphalt, deck, pavers, and grass will cost anywhere from $1 to $6 per square foot. Homeowners can often save money by removing and disposing of existing pavers, decks, and grass. Breaking up and hauling away concrete and asphalt is difficult and time-consuming without the proper equipment and may be worth having the pros do that work.
