Do not use this company. The customer service is bad. I would not even rate them one star. I called to get assistance for my 87 year old step father after they maintenance the furnace because they did not add the date. I was told that they could not help me and do not keep records. I was then placed on hold twice, over talked and hung up on. When I called back more than once I was told to stop calling or I would be reported for harassment. Then there was no more answering by them. I did not even get an opportunity to give any information for help. Then I feel I was racially profiled for being a black customer and immediately because I asked for help for a paid service and good customer service the woman threatened to call the police. I would not recommend. Not once was I disrespectful, escalated my tone, or use offense language and was treated as if I did something wrong for needing assistance. I left several messages for a supervisor with no call back. Please do not use. Its unfortunate that I am helping a senior and I can only imagine what would happen if he called. STAY AWAY.

You can't get a hold of anyone when you call. The lady left me messages when I was at work basically said to call home warranty and find someone else because their schedule didn't work and she was very condescending. I try calling before and after work several times to try and schedule an appointment, but they don't want your business. I'm glad I got my home warranty to find someone else especially after reading more reviews.

[Member Name Removed], what we tried to do was offer you the best available day that we had and gave you the option of going back to your home warranty for sooner service which is what they want us to do. We tried to reach you several times to check in on you during business hours but you were constantly unreachable. It has been extremely busy since May of 2020 due to covid and many people are at home experiencing issues so we are all just doing our very best. Your review is surprising. We have informed your home warranty fully of this entire situation between you and our company. Be well.

Terrible customer service. Lady on the phone was very rude and having spoken with her multiple times trying to get a tech to look at our furnace they can't seem to get it together, even I told her specifically our set up was an oil and not gas. No tech ever showed up, granite they even had the wrong type of technician to do any sort or checks. I let the first appointment slide as a courtesy. Had to reschedule and wait for another 1-2 weeks for someone to show up, and still no one showed up on the appointment. I even spoke to the lady the same day that morning to confirm and said that someone will be there between 1-3pm confirming that I'd be at the house. I even waited 3-4 hours. They said they tried calling but they never texted nor left a voice mail to verify. I even attempted to call back multiple times assuming it was them in lieu of leaving a message and no one even bothered to call right back. Seems like they were just ignoring my call backs after multiple attempts and leaving a message. After finally getting a true call back and speaking to lady she hung up on me as I was justifying my case was clear that I waited for someone to show up. Very horrible experience!

a/c replaced via insurance
Description of Work: Terrible!!!. Our case to replace a/c unit with them assigned by our insurance and I would recommend you bail out of them the moment your insurance states their name. The receptionist is extremely rude, who doesn’t let’s you speak, says she can’t hear you almost every time, tells her message and hangs up. Surprisingly every time I asked her “can you hear me now” was answered clear no promptly and heard well but nothing except. Finally on escalating with our insurance on our case not making any progress, she calls back and opens the call by saying the e-mails from our insurance “on expediting the slow pace with them” does not mean anything to her (not sure why she claims herself as the authority here). Then instead of answering me my concerns, calls me argumentative and hangs up. We find out later from our insurance that after getting our equipment from them she has transferred back our case, now that is great for them as they get a whole sale priced unit, and after waiting for weeks the process would restart for us with another service provider. We have had negative experiences in past but never such ordeal... DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME, SAVE YOUR FAMILY FROM SUFFERINGS!!

As a American Home Shield customer I was assigned Furnace Doctors to repair our broken Heat Pump. Geri was great. She schedules the work orders and provides customer service. I enjoyed speaking with Geri, and she was able to work with my schedule and needs. Two techs arrived to repair the Heat Pump, both were friendly and knowledgeable.Jay is the customer facing tech learning the repairing trade from tech Joshua. I would be happy to use Furnace Doctors in the future should the need arise. Addressing the cost post for this repair = amount shown for this review is for the American Home Shield Deductible. Had I not had the American Home Shield insurance the cost to me would have been about $500.00 LB - Auburn, WA

We had the worst customer service with Furnace Doctor I have ever experienced. Find another company. The receptionist was very rude, defensive and out right lied to us. She told us that to replace a condense pump (for the AC) which cost under $50 and 15 minutes of labor would need an authorization from the Home Warranty insurance company. I verified with the authorization department at the insurance company that repairs of $500.00 or less don't need authorization I told the Warranty company I won't deal with this company and they reassigned me to another vendor. Im calling that vendor now to arrange an appointment and ask that they stock the part on the truck so the repair can be done on the spot. I see from all the troublesome reviews here incompetence and rudeness prevail. No that you don't have to use Furnace Doctors, ask your Home warranty company to find another vendor.

Thank you for your review although it would've been a better experience if you had known what you were talking about and maybe you wouldn't feel duped and wouldn't have had a reason to leave an inaccurate review! A "condensate" pump is an inexpensive repair but as you yourself JUST put it, you were inquiring on a "condence" pump and we have to try to translate in our minds that your trying to say condenser which IS an expensive replacement, but not usually a repair so before you call defiantly and use wrong verbiage so you can blame us get your facts straight please!

Suffice it to say, all the bad reviews form the BBB to yelp are there for valid reasons. I spent a good deal of time trying to get AHS to send a different company, but obviously to no avail. When they finally did arrive to "diagnose" my furnace issue, it became painfully obviously why soo many other clients were furious with the service they received. To make a long story short, the 2 guys that came out were extremely rude to my wife and then left without even addressing the complaint, not even a simple explanation. There was no more contact after they collected the service fee and when we called to get an update they promptly hung up the phone. They certainly only stay in business because they are funneled AHS customers who have no other choice of service providers. It's hard to know who is more at fault, this rude incompetent furnace repair company or the home warranty service that manages somehow to keep them in business. Delete review

Furnace Doctor was very slow to come and diagnose the problem, and even slower to repair it. It took constant calls to both Furnace Doctor for a number of days to remind them that it was late fall / early winter, very cold and that we had an infant in the home to arrange for an actual repair. Now, a year later, we've received a request for our annual backflow test report from the city. When an independent (not from Furnace Doctor) technician came to our house to perform the test, he let us know that the required assembly is not there. It was removed by Furnace Doctor without mention of the fact that a part required by the city of Seattle was being removed. When I called Furnace Doctor today to resolve the problem, the representative let me know that they don't make repairs in the City of Seattle to Seattle code. When I suggested that they should mention that to the customer when making a repair, I was told they know how to run their business, that I do not have the right to make that suggestion and hung up on me. From their Angieslist grade, it's clear that they don't know how to run their business as well as they should. I would never have used this company if I hadn't been confined by my home warranty company, and I certainly will never use them again. I suggest you steer far clear as well.

Sometimes that's better when we aren't getting any where and your argumentitive! And correction sir, it's the home warranty that won't follow city rules. We work for the home warranty. They only authorize the basic repair/won't authorize based on city. You'll have that bone to pick with them! But thankzzz.

Excuse me Mr. and Mrs. [Member name], Your "obsolete" system was PURCHASED by YOUR home warranty company so you might want to chip in a few more bucks in the future to upgrade your policy and THEY might want to supply you with a better system!! Furnace Doctors ONLY installs the purchased and shipped home warranty equipment. FURNACE DOCTORS DOES NOT PICK OUT, CHOOSE OR PURCHASE for home warranties. I suppose it's more fun to blame an innocent party like the self-employed small business that HELPS BUILD AMERICA!!!!! AND "disappeared?" If you'd actually PURCHASED your OWN furnace ON YOUR OWN you would've also gotten an extended warranty and a choice in makes and models BUT you DIDN'T you went through a home warranty! Your home warranty warranties THEIR products and won't allow us to so you'll keep THEIR policy sooooo your stuck with WHAT YOU GOT!!! Home warranty remorse I suppose. Not much here we can do to resolve this since you chose that [Member Information Removed] so your barking up the wrong tree!! Thanks for the misrepresentation of our service though. Next time, shell out the real bucks, chose your own furnace and your own company!!!! It's always the home warranty customers whom have [Member Information Removed] idea whom their beef should be with. READ YOUR POLICY AND EDUCATE YOURSELVES BEFORE REVIEWING NEXT TIME PLEASE!!!

Around the the 18th of January, 2016, I noticed my furnace was constantly running. The only way I could shut it off was by using the breakers to the furnace. After a couple days of this, the furnace stopped heating the house entirely. It just blew cold air into my home. I called the warranty company, Fidelity, to report my home furnace was no longer heating the home. Within a day or so, they sent me a name of a company, saying they would be in contact with me. I waited a couple days, (again, with no heat) and finally received a call from Furnace Doctors. I spoke with the office manager. She related they were extremely busy and would try to fit me in that following Monday, meaning I had to go through a few more days or no furnace. That next Monday, I was very happy that John Day, who I believe is the owner of the company, came out. He had to access the furnace up in the attic, which John related was a tight fit. After he was done, he came downstairs, telling me that, one, the space was very difficult to work in (quarters were very tight), and, two, he was not able to make out either the model or the make of the furnace. I don't remember which one he stated he wasn't able to identify. He then related he'd had a similar situation a few months before where he believed that furnace was bought from Amazon and came from Europe. As he was leaving my home rather quickly for the day, I asked him, Well, what does that mean? When can the furnace be repaired? He related (as I recall) he'd have to do some checking. Two days went by. I heard nothing. Again, now, I'm well into several days with absolutely no heat in the home. I finally called the Furnace Doctors' office and spoke for quite a bit with the office manager, explaining I was very frustrated, that John really didn't give an indication of what he was going to do. She assured me John was a very well-known and very respected person in his field, that she would immediately contact him, and have him call me back. That call never came. So another couple days goes by. Unfortunately, with my job as a court reporter, I had to deal with going to work and trying to carve out spare time to address the furnace issue. I called Fidelity, the home warranty company, a couple days later after never hearing a word from Mr. Day. Fidelity related they'd "send" out another person from another company. In the meantime, I spoke with a guy who had recently serviced my furnace when i moved into the home. He assured me the furnace was a common Lennox model and make and definitely was made in the United States. He actually sent me an electronic copy of my furnace specifics. He was totally baffled why Mr. Day stated it was European. I never, again, heard a word from Furnace Doctors. I finally received a call from another contractor through my warranty company, Alpha Heating. Patrick came out a couple days later. He instantly understood the problem, stating two things: One, it had something to do with a timing component, and, two, he noticed several wires were pulled out of the furnace, meaning it couldn't run even if I wanted it to. Patrick from Alpha Heating reconnected the wires, and we realized, at least until he could get the timing components to finish the project, the furnace would run. Patrick then came back two days later and completed the project. According to Patrick from Alpha Heating, it was a very simple fix. I don't even know what to say about Furnace Doctors. I have no idea why Mr. Day didn't know the make/model; I have no idea why he wasn't able to let me know what was wrong; I have no idea why he just walked away and never made contact with me, again. Leaving a person in the middle of winter with no heat and not addressing how to fix it, I'm just perplexed. Obviously, I would/will never call Furnace Doctors again. In reality, I had absolutely no heat in my home from the furnace for two full weeks. That, I think we'll all agree, is unacceptable, especially since it ended up being an easy fix.

The air conditioning system quit working in June 2014. We were more impressed with the information, choices, and technicians that came from Brennan and replaced the unit. The first man admitted he did not know why it was not working and offered to send an expert technician who came a few hours later. He correctly diagnosed the problems and showed us where to look for comparisons of different compressors and units; different brands; different features. We chose one of three and it was installed and working beautifully functioning within a week.

Initially that seemed to go ok--they weren't punctual but the installation itself went fine. But in the months that followed I got really sick and my husband had other symptoms we didn't know were related. Eventually we figured out it was from the Air Cleaner they installed. It emits ozone a very dangerous air pollutant, and we learned that because our house didn't have proper ventilation, it was even worse because the ozone levels were building up and not getting out. We called Furnace Doctors to come out to put in a different air cleaner and fix our ventilation issue. They were extremely slow to even return our call, and when they finally did, it was to tell us they were busy, and were just calling to set up a time to call us back in another week. Meanwhile, as a sever allergy sufferer trying to recover from the ozone issue (which resulted in 20% loss of income working at home as a freelancer in the months we had the air cleaner), I had no working air cleaner in place in my home and could not get them to come out. When they finally did make it out there, they were extremely late. They looked at everything and I informed them that the product they sold us was not what they told us it was (citing info from the EPA, consumer reports, Yale University, etc.) and that as distributors, they should know what they are selling customers. The guy who came out knew all about what proper ventilation was supposed to be, and that made me wonder why he hadn't ever advised us to have them put in t=in the first place--wasn't he supposed to be the expert? I had to research this extensively to figure it out and only did so to try to figure out how I got so sick and how to keep that from ever happening again. Anyhow, he promised to call me back in the next few days to make a plan for coming back out and getting everything fixed. He told me they wouldn't pay for a new air cleaner though. I was so desperate to just have a HEPA filter put in with no ozone and proper ventilation I just agreed. But then....he never called back. I tried calling again. emailed. Left messages. And nothing. Obviously, I have not wasted any more time with them and have moved on to a different company. Good riddance.

We are very pleased to find how satisfied this customer was with our efficient service for his family in a cold month but sorry he didn't care for the service company sticker posted over previous service company stickers. Hired Furnace Doctor through American Home Shield to do furnace and AC maintenance. Technician came and just worked on two of our units, although I purchased maintenance plan for all 4 units (I later verified with American Home Shield). There were no readings taken except CO level, which came out to be 40/0 on both units. One of my furnaces failed in December and I hired three different contractors to come out and did a diagnosis on the unit. They all found an extremely high level of carbon monoxide level generated through the heat exchanger (>2000 ppm in less than 30 sec), and there were signs of rusty condensation on the drip pan. All three told me it was unlikely, if inspection and maintenance were done professionally and properly, that corrosion and rusting was unnoticeable back in May, and it was highly unlikely that the two furnaces would show the same readings of CO.

The only problem I had was getting scheduled. Although American Home Shield said Furnace Doctors would contact me (after I had put down my payment for the maintenance special AHS was offering), I had to make multiple calls to finally get in touch with Furnace Doctors to make the appointment. Subsequently, I was advised of a time they would show up on a specific day, only to find out later that the time I was quoted was the time when the personnel began their usual workday. Once I decoded and resolved all that, everything else went great. During the preventive-maintenance event, I was advised by the technician that he would have to stop work and that someone would come back later to do more work, since he had discovered that the heat exchanger in the furnace was clogged (previous owners had used wrong-sized filters). He also changed the modes of the air conditioner and heater to avoid any potential damage to the system due to inadequate air flow, which I truly appreciated. He said Furnace Doctors would check with AHS to see if they would cover the additional maintenance costs of cleaning out the heat exchanger or not. Subsequently, I was advised AHS would cover the additional work, and Furnace Doctors scheduled the completion of the work. They did an extremely competent job, knew what to do to prevent further damage due to the clogged heat exchanger, helped me through the process, and it cost me very little to get a job done right. I am very impressed.
Description of Work: This was part of a deal offered by American Home Shield for preventive maintenance. They checked out my heat pump, and by the time it was over, replaced my filter, and found other problems that were fixed. See below

Quick evaluation, long (months) time to come back and re-install, almost no feedback or updates.
Description of Work: Was assigned to Furnace Doctors by American Home Shield. Came out fairly promptly to evaluate the problem and decide I needed a new part. Took something in the neighborhood of two months for the part to arrive and be installed. This may have been a delay by the manufacturer, but, except for my phone calls, NEVER got an update. I got the impression that they forgot about me. Given my choice, I would not use them again.

They did a good job. I would use them again. They guy came out and found the leak. He explained that the leak was around the zone valve. After he left, we ended up losing our heat. I have an AHS warranty on the infrastructure of the house. When the heat pump started acting up by not defrosting, Furnace Doctors came out and replaced the fan, then the defroster circuit failed. They determined that the unit was just too old to find parts for and they were able to get a replacement authorized under the AHS warranty. By upgrading to a new unit 18 years newer than the old one and at least 2/3 the physical size, we hope to save some pretty good money on electric bills. They did what they promised, and at the price agreed upon. What more could one ask?
Description of Work: Furnace Doctors installed a new heat pump (within American Home Shield's warranty). They arrived at the agreed-upon time and were finished as they estimated. I have used this company in the past and found them to excellent in quality of workmanship and punctuality. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

It went fine. I waited about 3-4 hours past when the office told me they would be there for them to arrive on their initial visit to diagnose the furnace. Upon their arrival, they were very thorough, finding the aforementioned, undiagnosed flat spot in the burner motor. They gave an accurate estimate and came in below the cost quoted. When they came out the next time to install the new motor, they were punctual.
Description of Work: I called them to service a 20+ year old oil furnace in a rental house of mine in the rural Gig Harbor (Olalla) area. They diagnosed a ''flat spot'' in the burner motor. This had caused the renter to have to reset the furnace intermittently. The renter had had another company come and check the furnace out but they were unable to diagnose or fix the issue.

Response from Furnace Doctors
Im so glad this customer was happy with our services overall but must make the comment that due to uncontrollable circumstances such as traffic and the diagnosis/repair mysteries until we arrive to any given home, we must quote "after 11:00" and ask that if the customer would like a better idea of a closer time frame, to call us and we would be more than happy to find out how their tech is doing and close it in for them. Most folks hear "11:00" when I say "after 11:00." This is why this customer thinks he "waited 3--4 hours past."
