🚨 WARNING: DO NOT USE FURNACE DOCTORS – SCAM & ABUSIVE 🚨 We used Furnace Doctors via our AHS warranty for AC repair. On June 11, a tech spent <5 min, added a dye shot + 5 lbs refrigerant at $35/lb ($10/lb covered by AHS), claiming it would detect the leak. ❌ AC failed next day. At recall, same tech found the leak in a filter. A part was ordered. A new tech came later, demanded $405 for 9 lbs refrigerant—fully covered by AHS. When I called AHS, Furnace Doctors didn’t answer. I contacted the owner directly. 💥 Then, the tech trespassed into our yard, removed refrigerant without consent, and verbally abused me, my husband, and even our kids—yelling: “F**K YOU! My boss told me to suck it out bone dry!” 📹 All on video. 🚔 Police report filed. AHS confirmed we should not have been charged. 🔥 FURNACE DOCTORS IS A SCAM. They lie, trespass, and intimidate families. Avoid at all costs. Please share

Do not use this company. The customer service is bad. I would not even rate them one star. I called to get assistance for my 87 year old step father after they maintenance the furnace because they did not add the date. I was told that they could not help me and do not keep records. I was then placed on hold twice, over talked and hung up on. When I called back more than once I was told to stop calling or I would be reported for harassment. Then there was no more answering by them. I did not even get an opportunity to give any information for help. Then I feel I was racially profiled for being a black customer and immediately because I asked for help for a paid service and good customer service the woman threatened to call the police. I would not recommend. Not once was I disrespectful, escalated my tone, or use offense language and was treated as if I did something wrong for needing assistance. I left several messages for a supervisor with no call back. Please do not use. Its unfortunate that I am helping a senior and I can only imagine what would happen if he called. STAY AWAY.

As a American Home Shield customer I was assigned Furnace Doctors to repair our broken Heat Pump. Geri was great. She schedules the work orders and provides customer service. I enjoyed speaking with Geri, and she was able to work with my schedule and needs. Two techs arrived to repair the Heat Pump, both were friendly and knowledgeable.Jay is the customer facing tech learning the repairing trade from tech Joshua. I would be happy to use Furnace Doctors in the future should the need arise. Addressing the cost post for this repair = amount shown for this review is for the American Home Shield Deductible. Had I not had the American Home Shield insurance the cost to me would have been about $500.00 LB - Auburn, WA

Suffice it to say, all the bad reviews form the BBB to yelp are there for valid reasons. I spent a good deal of time trying to get AHS to send a different company, but obviously to no avail. When they finally did arrive to "diagnose" my furnace issue, it became painfully obviously why soo many other clients were furious with the service they received. To make a long story short, the 2 guys that came out were extremely rude to my wife and then left without even addressing the complaint, not even a simple explanation. There was no more contact after they collected the service fee and when we called to get an update they promptly hung up the phone. They certainly only stay in business because they are funneled AHS customers who have no other choice of service providers. It's hard to know who is more at fault, this rude incompetent furnace repair company or the home warranty service that manages somehow to keep them in business. Delete review

Furnace Doctor was very slow to come and diagnose the problem, and even slower to repair it. It took constant calls to both Furnace Doctor for a number of days to remind them that it was late fall / early winter, very cold and that we had an infant in the home to arrange for an actual repair. Now, a year later, we've received a request for our annual backflow test report from the city. When an independent (not from Furnace Doctor) technician came to our house to perform the test, he let us know that the required assembly is not there. It was removed by Furnace Doctor without mention of the fact that a part required by the city of Seattle was being removed. When I called Furnace Doctor today to resolve the problem, the representative let me know that they don't make repairs in the City of Seattle to Seattle code. When I suggested that they should mention that to the customer when making a repair, I was told they know how to run their business, that I do not have the right to make that suggestion and hung up on me. From their Angieslist grade, it's clear that they don't know how to run their business as well as they should. I would never have used this company if I hadn't been confined by my home warranty company, and I certainly will never use them again. I suggest you steer far clear as well.

"No one EVER describes THEIR attitude when saying we have one! I'm sure you weren't rude at all? I remember you! You were very rude and we won't be spoken to like that, sans the hang up! Sometimes that's better when we aren't getting any where and your argumentitive! And correction sir, it's the home warranty that won't follow city rules. We work for the home warranty. They only authorize the basic repair/won't authorize based on city. You'll have that bone to pick with them! But thankzzz."

"Excuse me Mr. and Mrs. [Member name], Your "obsolete" system was PURCHASED by YOUR home warranty company so you might want to chip in a few more bucks in the future to upgrade your policy and THEY might want to supply you with a better system!! Furnace Doctors ONLY installs the purchased and shipped home warranty equipment. FURNACE DOCTORS DOES NOT PICK OUT, CHOOSE OR PURCHASE for home warranties. I suppose it's more fun to blame an innocent party like the self-employed small business that HELPS BUILD AMERICA!!!!! AND "disappeared?" If you'd actually PURCHASED your OWN furnace ON YOUR OWN you would've also gotten an extended warranty and a choice in makes and models BUT you DIDN'T you went through a home warranty! Your home warranty warranties THEIR products and won't allow us to so you'll keep THEIR policy sooooo your stuck with WHAT YOU GOT!!! Home warranty remorse I suppose. Not much here we can do to resolve this since you chose that [Member Information Removed] so your barking up the wrong tree!! Thanks for the misrepresentation of our service though. Next time, shell out the real bucks, chose your own furnace and your own company!!!! It's always the home warranty customers whom have [Member Information Removed] idea whom their beef should be with. READ YOUR POLICY AND EDUCATE YOURSELVES BEFORE REVIEWING NEXT TIME PLEASE!!!"

"You know what? CHECK YOUR "FACTS!" YOUR home warranty company BEFORE they move forward with your claim asks us what needs to be done to install YOUR new furnace and we tell them; we have to snip and remove the old electrical, gas pipe, duct and exhaust to retro fit to THEIR new unit plus we need to remove the old and dispose of YOUR old unit. YOUR home warranty company does NOT pay for this but the install cannot be done if it is not done!! Your home warranty company tells us what is covered and what is NOT BASED ON HOW MUCH YOU PAY FOR YOUR POLICY!!!!! So what they do not cover, you must!! YOUR home warranty company ORDERS the furnace in THEIR time, the company THEY order through ships it in THEIR time (which means we are waiting on a shippers schedule) and the shipper SHIPS it in THEIR time and mean while back at the ranch (cue the crickets) our schedule does NOT wait for them!!! We have other customers whom are beating our door down with cash to get us to install for them!!! Hence, a very busy schedule!!!! I suppose you'd rather we left all the old used electrical, bent destroyed gas pipe, exhaust and metal after we ripped your old unit from it, install the new to THAT, right? You think you'd like THAT job?! I think we'd be hearing from you another way. So before you insult THIS company with misrepresentations, READ YOUR POLICY!!!!!! IT'S IN THERE!!!!!! Spend the money to find the right company and furnace that makes YOU happy instead of paying for a home warranty that picks for you and WRONGLY INSULTING an HONEST INNOCENT company!!!!! AND paying a few, A FEW, "A FEW!!!!" hundred bucks instead of THOUSANDS!!!!! ($3,000.00 AND UP TO BE EXACT!!!) is a HECK of a deal even with WHAT THEY supply YOU with!!!!! Now THAT is as HONEST as THIS "dishonest company" GETS!!!! I am soooo sick of home warranty customers that want the moon for NOTHING from a home warranty company and disrespect the INNOCENT company just doing their job!!!!!"

The air conditioning system quit working in June 2014.  We were more impressed with the information, choices, and technicians that came from Brennan and replaced the unit.  The first man admitted he did not know why it was not working and offered to send an expert technician who came a few hours later.  He correctly diagnosed the problems and showed us where to look for comparisons of different compressors and units; different brands; different features.  We chose one of three and it was installed and working beautifully functioning within a week.

Initially that seemed to go ok--they weren't punctual but the installation itself went fine. But in the months that followed I got really sick and my husband had other symptoms we didn't know were related. Eventually we figured out it was from the Air Cleaner they installed. It emits ozone a very dangerous air pollutant, and we learned that because our house didn't have proper ventilation, it was even worse because the ozone levels were building up and not getting out. We called Furnace Doctors to come out to put in a different air cleaner and fix our ventilation issue. They were extremely slow to even return our call, and when they finally did, it was to tell us they were busy, and were just calling to set up a time to call us back in another week. Meanwhile, as a sever allergy sufferer trying to recover from the ozone issue (which resulted in 20% loss of income working at home as a freelancer in the months we had the air cleaner), I had no working air cleaner in place in my home and could not get them to come out. When they finally did make it out there, they were extremely late. They looked at everything and I informed them that the product they sold us was not what they told us it was (citing info from the EPA, consumer reports, Yale University, etc.) and that as distributors, they should know what they are selling customers. The guy who came out knew all about what proper ventilation was supposed to be, and that made me wonder why he hadn't ever advised us to have them put in t=in the first place--wasn't he supposed to be the expert? I had to research this extensively to figure it out and only did so to try to figure out how I got so sick and how to keep that from ever happening again. Anyhow, he promised to call me back in the next few days to make a plan for coming back out and getting everything fixed. He told me they wouldn't pay for a new air cleaner though. I was so desperate to just have a HEPA filter put in with no ozone and proper ventilation I just agreed. But then....he never called back. I tried calling again. emailed. Left messages. And nothing. Obviously, I have not wasted any more time with them and have moved on to a different company. Good riddance.

Service technician was sent by third party (our home warranty). Technician came out and identified the problem, then drove 2 hours round trip to pick up the replacement part. He returned the same night and got our furnace running. My pregnant wife and two year old were warm in November!
Response from Furnace Doctors
"We are very pleased to find how satisfied this customer was with our efficient service for his family in a cold month but sorry he didn't care for the service company sticker posted over previous service company stickers. This is just a common advertising/competitive strategy. While I believe our services speak for our reputation we're backing it up with the service stickers! :)"

Hired Furnace Doctor through American Home Shield to do furnace and AC maintenance.  Technician came and just worked on two of our units, although I purchased maintenance plan for all 4 units (I later verified with American Home Shield).  There were no readings taken except CO level, which came out to be 40/0 on both units.  One of my furnaces failed in December and I hired three different contractors to come out and did a diagnosis on the unit.  They all found an extremely high level of carbon monoxide level generated through the heat exchanger (>2000 ppm in less than 30 sec), and there were signs of rusty condensation on the drip pan.  All three told me it was unlikely, if inspection and maintenance were done professionally and properly, that corrosion and rusting was unnoticeable back in May, and it was highly unlikely that the two furnaces would show the same readings of CO.

The only problem I had was getting scheduled. Although American Home Shield said Furnace Doctors would contact me (after I had put down my payment for the maintenance special AHS was offering), I had to make multiple calls to finally get in touch with Furnace Doctors to make the appointment. Subsequently, I was advised of a time they would show up on a specific day, only to find out later that the time I was quoted was the time when the personnel began their usual workday. Once I decoded and resolved all that, everything else went great.
During the preventive-maintenance event, I was advised by the technician that he would have to stop work and that someone would come back later to do more work, since he had discovered that the heat exchanger in the furnace was clogged (previous owners had used wrong-sized filters). He also changed the modes of the air conditioner and heater to avoid any potential damage to the system due to inadequate air flow, which I truly appreciated. He said Furnace Doctors would check with AHS to see if they would cover the additional maintenance costs of cleaning out the heat exchanger or not. Subsequently, I was advised AHS would cover the additional work, and Furnace Doctors scheduled the completion of the work.
They did an extremely competent job, knew what to do to prevent further damage due to the clogged heat exchanger, helped me through the process, and it cost me very little to get a job done right. I am very impressed.

The technical work was done wonderfully.  Overall everything went well but there was one problem.  I have a crawl space under my house with screens on them.  The worker that came out did a good job but never replaced the screens which caused my heating bill to go way up.  I had to have someone else come out and put them back on for me.

They did a good job. I would use them again. They guy came out and found the leak. He explained that the leak was around the zone valve. After he left, we ended up losing our heat. We called the guy and he helped us get the heat turned back on before the full repair could be done.  They then put the repair through as an emergency repair and the work done very quickly. The work was done through our home warranty so we never saw a bill.

I have an AHS warranty on the infrastructure of the house. When the heat pump started acting up by not defrosting, Furnace Doctors came out and replaced the fan, then the defroster circuit failed. They determined that the unit was just too old to find parts for and they were able to get a replacement authorized under the AHS warranty. By upgrading to a new unit 18 years newer than the old one and at least 2/3 the physical size, we hope to save some pretty good money on electric bills.
They did what they promised, and at the price agreed upon. What more could one ask?

It went fine. I waited about 3-4 hours past when the office told me they would be there for them to arrive on their initial visit to diagnose the furnace. Upon their arrival, they were very thorough, finding the aforementioned, undiagnosed flat spot in the burner motor. They gave an accurate estimate and came in below the cost quoted. When they came out the next time to install the new motor, they were punctual.
Response from Furnace Doctors
"Im so glad this customer was happy with our services overall but must make the comment that due to uncontrollable circumstances such as traffic and the diagnosis/repair mysteries until we arrive to any given home, we must quote "after 11:00" and ask that if the customer would like a better idea of a closer time frame, to call us and we would be more than happy to find out how their tech is doing and close it in for them. Most folks hear "11:00" when I say "after 11:00." This is why this customer thinks he "waited 3--4 hours past.""
