Our team specializes in everything from home renovation, additions, remodels and improvements. We typically have a two man crew but if some areas of work are outside our expertise, I hire trusted sub-contractors to ensure your plans are carried out accurately. For some larger projects, we expand our team to include an architect and civil engineer we a have strong relationship with. Effective communication is a vital component of our work because it is important to me that your home projects are completed to your expectations. After we discuss the details of your plans, expectations, scheduling and budget, our contract generally requires 50% upfront and the remainder to be paid when the project is completed. We take pride in the quality of our work and build our business on customer satisfaction. It is my goal to have your business for years to come; I am always happy to provide references from previous clients.

"PQT has handled multiple projects of mine since the early 2000's, including kitchen and bathrooms remodels, moving external walls, roof replacement, concrete laying, electrical upgrades, deck building, and others. They are not the cheapest contractors or the fastest, but they do good work. There are contractors you would hire to do a flip, and ones that you'd hire to work on your home - and PQT is the latter."

Closets questions, answered by experts

Clean regularly, avoid overloading shelves, and check hardware for wear to ensure longevity.

If you’re on a tight budget, the least expensive material you can buy for DIY closet shelves is chipboard, a.k.a. particle board. This inexpensive material is made from a pulp of sawdust, resin, and glue that’s pressed together under high temperature and pressure. As you can imagine, it’s not very sturdy and might buckle under your blue jean collection, so you should only use it if you’re storing very light items.

Some features and upgrades you can add (some of which increase the closet’s value) are: modular shelving, motion-activated lighting, climate control, custom lighting, cigar humidors, revolving shoe racks, jewelry shelves, custom woodwork, and built-in laundry hampers. While only truly luxury closets have all of these, many custom closets have at least one special feature listed above.

Bump-out additions can add some space to a closet without requiring any significant structural work. This entails pushing back the existing rear or side of the closet, simply moving the wall into either an adjacent room or unused space. For ground-floor closets, this could even be extended to the exterior of the home, but that has its own complications. Bump-outs are a good discussion to have with your contractor if you’re just looking to increase the space a little—not renovate the entire closet space.

Custom closet renovations offer a return on investment of 50% to 60%. This means that if you spend $2,000 on a closet remodel, you can expect to see your home's value increase by $1,000 to $1,200. Investing in a custom closet allows you to enhance your daily living experience while building equity.
