"Great. Sean cam to give me an estimate and said that I didn't need to replace the door, but he could repair it. With a saving of over $1000.00. He was very efficient and the door is working great. Highly recommend this family business."

"We are very happy with how Serge was able to go through our list of home maintenance projects, and complete them all in less than 2 days. He repaired cracked plaster on walls, and repainted them; installed cabinet handles; fixed a short in a light switch; fixed a toilet; and re-grouted the tile in a shower. He was dependable, arriving on schedule, and easy to contact and communicate with. When we needed him to come back to retouch a small chip in the grout, he set up an appointment and prompting took care of it. He also provided an itemized list of costs soon after he visited our home to see what was needed to be done. We will be hiring him for future projects and highly recommend him to others."

Customers say: Super punctual

"We had an overflow drain issue with our bathtub which caused some drywall damage (along with the hole I made diagnosing the issue). Scott from Jack of All Trades did a great job repairing the plumbing, testing to make sure it was fixed and no other leaks existed, and repairing the drywall so it looked like it never happened. While he was at it we also tossed a few extra items from the honey-do list and they were fixed like it was nothing. You can tell these guys have a ton of experience, they knew all the tricks to fix everything far easier than I expected. I'd have them back to work on my house again without a second thought."

"Jeff is extremely talented at basically anything regarding home repair. He’s helped me with about a half a dozen projects and I’ve been very impressed. His costs are reasonable and he is honest and straightforward. I’ll definitely have him back for future projects."

"Sometimes when someone is the only game in town, you have to go with them. The workers did do a really good job installing this sky wall window and door. But one window in the sky wall was broken on arrival. And one of the pains in the sliding glass door was scratched. It took several months and a couple of more trips by them and time off by me to get this all fixed. It appears that Pella and Ply Gem don't have the quality control that is needed to prevent problems like these. I would probably hire Emerald City Energy again to get the window or door that I really want. But be aware that you may have to deal with some issues with there products."

Door Repair questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can install a steel door without replacing the frame, depending on the condition of your existing doorframe. If the current frame is in good condition, a steel door that’s the same size as your current door should fit the frame. However, if the frame is damaged, warped, or not properly aligned, it’s better to replace both the door and the frame. This way your steel door will be more secure and offer better insulation.

While it may seem counterintuitive, adding moisture to the warped area of a door actually helps to fix it by allowing the wood to expand and contract. Moisture helps loosen the fibers in your door to make them more malleable. This process can help you get the wood back to its original shape.

It’s possible to replace a patio door without replacing the frame if it matches the size of the new door. This can simplify the installation process and reduce costs. However, if the existing frame is in poor condition, doesn’t match the new door design, or isn’t fit for purpose, replacement is a more practical, long-term investment.

This points to a climate difference between the inside of your home and the outdoors. While common during peak cold days, frequent icing inside your storm door points to excess moisture being trapped between your entry door and storm door. In most cases, this can be fixed by updating worn weatherstripping or addressing gaps that are allowing warm, humid air from your home to get into the space between the doors.

Lock picking is a relatively subtle method of unauthorized access, making it hard to detect. But there are telltale signs to look for. First, look for scratches or tool marks around the keyhole or the lock's surface. Also, check for loose or misaligned components, like a wonky strike plate, which could indicate tampering. Consulting a locksmith or security professional for an assessment can provide valuable insights, too. Investing in high-quality locks and considering additional security measures, like security cameras, can help deter potential intruders and enhance your overall safety.
