"I originally hired Carpet Police to clean the carpets in my house. They were the first to respond when I got on Angie's List. Somehow, Carpet Police got usurped by another company called Arizona Island. Arizona Island did a terrible job and I called Carpet Police, again, to please come and repair the bad carpet cleaning that was done. Carpet Police did as good a job as I could possible expect to fix what went wrong. Alfonso was efficient, friendly, wore his mask when he was inside and I wouldn't hesitate to hire them again."

"Our gutters had not been cleaned in over ten years . They needed a professional who knew what they were doing and Tom was that person. He was on time , gave a very reasonable estimate and even though he ran into some additional problems he stayed with his original estimate. He completed the job the same day as the estimate. If you need your gutters cleaned, I highly recommend Tom and Outlook Window Cleaning!"

"Our dog Barry is a big golden retriever and when he was a puppy we had a real good time trying to get him potty trainer. We had Nick clean our carpets once and he did a great job so we have just called him again and he cleaned our house again this year. Easy going guy with great results. Our carpets have been cleaned throughout our house twice by Nick and we believe heâ s done quality work both times. True North does a great job. We are glad to have found a local company that does a good job!"

"We discovered we had a problem in our crawl space and an upcoming inspection to sell our house. Daniel went above and beyond to make sure we not only had our issue taken care of, but he also did the job himself on a weekend so we could meet the deadline for our inspection. He was very communicative and straightforward with his very reasonable pricing. His work is impeccable and done right the first time and in a very timely manner. So refreshing to have an honest business owner to work with. We will only use S.O.S moving forward and would recommend them to anyone! Thanks Daniel!"

Sonic Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Regular cleaning, inspecting for peeling or rust, and reapplying coatings every 8-12 years helps maintain durability.

You should avoid using a pressure washer on any surface or item that could be damaged by the high-pressure spray, as some materials are too delicate to withstand the force.

Key items and surfaces to avoid include:

  • Electrical Components: Never pressure wash electrical systems, as water can cause short-circuits and create a safety hazard. This includes utility meters, breaker boxes, electrical outlets, generators, and HVAC or air conditioner units.

  • Delicate and Fragile Materials: Fragile items can crack, shatter, or be stripped by the pressure. Avoid pressure washing windows, glass, light fixtures, shingled roofs (especially asphalt), and stucco.

  • Painted, Stained, or Sealed Surfaces: Unless your goal is to strip the finish, do not pressure wash painted surfaces, stained wood (like decks), or anything with a protective seal that could be stripped away. Be especially cautious with older surfaces that may contain lead paint.

  • Soft Woods and Certain Decking: Delicate surfaces like softwood, composite decking, and antique or wooden patio furniture can be etched or damaged. If you must wash wood, use a lower-powered pressure washer with a wide-angle nozzle to prevent damage.

  • Living Things: Never use a pressure washer on people, pets, or plants. The force can cause serious injury and will destroy landscaping.

The easiest way to remove snow from a roof involves using a roof rake that allows you to clear snow from the ground. Roof rakes are lightweight and feature adjustable handles, making them user-friendly for most people. This method also helps prevent ice dams and excess snow buildup, reducing the risk of roof damage during winter months.

When should you remove snow from your roof? A good rule of thumb is once six inches of snow accumulates.

An improper DIY roof cleaning could cause leaks by damaging the roofing material. Things like using too much water pressure on the shingles or applying a harsh cleaning solution could cause damage. If you do enough damage, you could harm the ability of the shingles or other roof materials to keep water out of your home.

Yes, algae-resistant shingles will prevent algae and moss growth, providing double protection for your roof and roof flashing. The copper-infused granules on algae-resistant shingles release copper ions that inhibit plant growth in general, so moss will have a harder time growing on your roof, too. Keep in mind that copper ions flowing off your roof during rainfall can also inhibit plant growth below, so your gardens and grass may be affected.
